Latest update on Samsung S8 taking a long time

Message on S8 phone to update today. Set in motion and message mentions Android is upgrading - Optimising app 106 of 106.
This has been the same screen for nearly an hour now. Is this correct and how long should this take?

If the phone is locked, how can i stop the process?

With some updates, that lase update message isn't cleared off the screen, so while the phone is finishing the rest of the update, the message sits there.

Make sure it doesn't run out of battery (if it gets down to 40%, charge it to 80%) and let it sit for about 4 hours. If it doesn't finish by then, fully charge it, then bring it into your carrier and ask for help. (If they restart it, and that corrupts it, they have to fix or replace it.)
