Launch Day Stories Thread

I meant to wake up around 8:30 or 9 to get to the Sprint store at opening, but...that didn't work out. Woke up about 40 minutes ago, called the Sprint store to make sure they still had plenty in stock, and am now about to head over there to pick up my Evo.

It might be but I wouldn't risk it, you can still use the soft button for now and a teardown voids the warranty and they can tell because of small very thin (tears on removal) stickers over some of the screws.

Hey all. I called the Sprint store this morning and they had one left in stock out of the 5 total that they received. I rushed over to pick it up and I am so happy that I did. I had the HTC One X on AT&T after switching from the OG Evo 4g but the limited data and the fact that it was on the evil empire network just left a sour taste in my mouth. It is so good to be back with Sprint and have this awesome device in my hand. Next step is to get a screen cover and to take back the HOX. :)

I know its relatively the same experience, but how does it compare to the One X?

Called about 4 Best Buys in NYC, found one in Queens selling it. Went there, traded in my old Evo and bough a screen protector. Total came out to $91.

Looked at receipt and they only charged me $150 for the phone. Oh well!

Just got back from my local Sprint store. They had 15 EVOs arrive yesterday afternoon, and most of them were used to fill preorders (including mine). They only had 2 left, but expect more on Monday or Tuesday. Coming from using a Samsung Nexus S 4G, the new EVO is fantastic! The screen is really large, and the EVO is amazingly thin. The construction is very high quality (unlike my Nexus S which was all plastic). Both the RF Radio and GPS worked great compared to my Nexus.

I got it today too. No big story but it was pretty crowded. They said they started with 45 and my 11 they only had like 20 left.

This morning, two of my children woke up with fevers. So instead of being at the Sprint Store at opening, I could not make it until 1 pm. But I was able to get it. Gave the old 3D to the wifey.I think she will find it a big step up from h LG Lotus. I must say I was quite surprised by the "in person" look! The back does not bother me as much and fits more naturally with therest of the phone than the pictures led me to believe.

Absolutely. I was stunned at how the photos I had seen before I got mine last week did not prepare me for EVOLTE goodness. I was completely blown away at how elegant the phone is.

I picked mine up in Brandon, Florida for a cool $590. No problem. Instead amd out in 30 minutes. Fully charged it at home. Thus far, battery life sucks! Will give it the two weeks. No crazy use. Mostly wi fi. Some 3g. :'(

I think a lot of people feel this way. When the clerk at BB took mine out of its case i couldn't stop from getting a huge smile on my face.

So I decided to get there at 930 but my son wasn't having any of that. So I got there at 1030 and low and behold I got one of the last ones they had. So far I'm happy but I must admit I was REALLY sad to watch them drag away my gnexus as it was such a cool phone. But hey all in all I have a working phone right out of the box which I couldn't say the gnexus did.

My local BB had my 2 set aside for me. Other than having to wait for the stores system to work right, then a long time to get activated to due so many phones getting activated i had no issues. I got 2 Zagg screen protectors (HD) for $25, installed. I think i got a good deal.

I love you people. I am so excited and waiting for my renewal to arrive. My hubby just doesn't understand. It's good to be amongst folks who are so excited they can't sleep!!!!!

I still love my original EVO. It does everything I need, but after almost 2 years, it's time for a new device and this one seems to fit the bill.

Ann, i felt the same way (my og evo was still great) until i got the new evo :)

Was first in line at best buy this morning. Got there @ 930. Traded EVO and EVO shift in for an additional $75 off. Got a platinum case with a grand total of $85. Better deal than anywhere! Truly a best buy!

Love the phone as well! Will sleep good for the first time in 2 weeks dealing with this fiasco!
