Switch back to HTC Sense UI temporarily -- and remove all your widgets from those home screens!

I had a snafu last night with Pandora, but the end result was Pure Calendar Widget locked up sucking battery (and a power cycle in the end) ... but the deal is, I didn't have that widget on my Launcher Pro home screen -- it was only on my "unused" Sense home screen!

So go remove those resource-sucking widgets from the Sense home!

Are you guys using the ADW.Launcher version from the market? Or are you using the most up to date version from the developer's website on your Evo?

You know this is a good point that can be applied either way- it seems that widgets continue to run/update in either launcher (sense and launcherpro) when the other is running.

I tried LauncherPro for a few days and installed the Fancy Widget on my homescreen. I ended up deciding I missed the Sense widgets so I switched back to sense. I noticed after switching back to Sense that Fancy Widget was still running/updating, even though it was only ever installed on my LauncherPro homescreens. Seems like a pretty poopy design/coding decision somewhere.

I'm actually running Launcher Pro from the market. I tried ADW.Launcher from the market, but the config items seemed to go on forever, and LP did everything I needed and seemed a bit more straight-forward.

Interesting find. As far as ADE.Launcher, I do believe the version on the website is only for rooted phones.
S Iomething personally haven't found the need to do.

I just realized that I need to uninstall ADW.Launcher as I left widgets there too ... geez!!!

wow, seriously, this explains EVERYTHING. whenever I mess with multiple launchers, crap happens. NO WONDER!!!!

I wish this had been known and publicized long ago - and definitely there is a flaw in android to let this happen. for now the launcher developers could definitely make their launchers more popular with people experimenting with them by finding a solution to this problem or, at least, showing this info to the user upon first start in a brief, simple sentence in big letters. otherwise whenever people try another launcher and actually configure it they'll find it's not only no faster than the previous launcher (which is still taking it's tole on the OS with it's widgets) but will actually likely be slower once you add MORE widgets to this new launcher.

How do I switch back to change it? I'm a newb and I'm so lost!
1) From your home page, select the menu button and then select Settings.
2) Go to the Applications setting, then go to the ALL tab.
3) Find Launcher Pro in the list. Scroll down, you should see a button that says "Clear Defaults". Click it.
4) Press the home button -- you can then choose to go to your default home or the Launcher Pro home.

Will this clear all my defaults that I set with Launcher Pro? I don't want to go back permanently just so I can turn off the widgets running in Sense? Sorry I'm new, and I'm a little confused.

No. If you clear the defaults for LP it should only affect when you press the home button. So just press the home button, chose htc Sense (dont chose a default action yet) remove the widgets, press home again, select chose as a default for this action and press LP. LP will now be you launcher again.

Holy crap. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was going on, lol.

This is exciting! Thanks for the tip!
