LauncherPro vs TwGTG

For some reason when I try to save LauncherPro as my default through home switcher it always saves back to TwGTG. I can have LauncherPro launched and running but if I hit the home soft key, at any screen, it brings me back to TwGTG and reverts back to default. I love the customization in LauncherPro and would really like to keep it. Has anyone had this problem or is there a fix? My specs are listed above in my profile. Also I know there is another thread similar to this but he's using eb01 I believe. Not sure if it makes a difference. Thank you for your time.

put launcher pro in your system/app folder. delete twlauncher. reboot.

For some reason when I went to delete TwGTG it said uninstall unsuccessful. Probably because its considered a system app for some reason. Anyways I found a workaround and everything seems to be working.

One more question. I noticed TwGTG, when it was running, did not shop up in task manager. When LauncherPro is running it does show up, is there anyway to make it invisible in task manager?

I am running 2.9.2 and want to delete the AOSP launcher (Launcher2.apk) and want to replace it with Launcher Pro Plus. Using root explorer I can go into data/app and find launcher pro (com.fede.launcher-1.apk). However when trying to move that file I get a read only message and it wont do anything. Am I doing something wrong?

At the top of root explorer there should be a gray bar saying "remount as R/O or remount as R/W" make sure the gray bar says "Remount as R/O". Its just a switch between read only and write.

Yea I would like to know about this too.

you should see a Mount R/O(read only) at the top in root explorer, change it to Mount R/W(read/write) and try it again

Ugh... Now LauncherPro won't save preferences. Also when rebooting it freezes for 15-45 seconds after sd card is read.

I was having problems with Launcher Pro, too. I downloaded Go Launcher from the market and I like it. It's a lot like LP except for no errors.

LP used to work perfectly for me and I really like it but with the problems I've been having with it lately it was getting frustrating. You might give Go Launcher a try and at least have it as an alternative to LP.

Trying it right now. Seems really nice. I don't like the "All, recent, and running" tabs under the app drawer. Is there anyway to get rid of that?

My resolution to this in the past has been to go under twlauncher under manage applications and clear defaults, hit the home button, check the use by default box, and choose launcher pro. Home switcher is trying to change a default setting that's already set and it just doesn't do a very good job of it I think is what's happening.

I just installed it yesterday and was playing with it more today. I didn't like the "All, recent and running" tabs, either until today. It's kind of nice to see what's running right from the app drawer AND be able to use it as a task killer. Live with it for a while and see what you think.

I also downloaded some themes for it and like having the choices.

I was really happy with LP so changing programs wasn't an easy sell. But so far I like the Go Launcher.

I'll still try the links posted about how to fix the LP issues and see if I can get it running smoothly again. It's nice to have a choice of a couple of good launchers, though.

That was it. Seems to work. I do get the "usual" long wait, lock-up and Force Close on Launcher Pro on restart but runs fine after that. Hoping not running the aosp launcher helps with the battery life.

One more question. When a new SC upgrade comes out, can I replace the aosp launcher file in the SuperClean zip file with the LP one and flash?

Thanks Again

ok, sorry guys. stupid job.

with root explorer move the new launcher, which everone you decide on, to the system/app folder. make sure you press the mount r/w once in the system folder. when that is dont delete twlauncher. your phone will imideatly start force closing. just reboot and everything should be fine.
