Launchers and S Pen

Hi all,

Looking into pre ordering a Note 7 but wanted to know if when using 3rd party launchers can you still use all the s pen & edge features?

I am a long time iOS user but think the Note 7 could be the reason to change.

The S-pen has noting to do with the launcher, so you will definitely be fine on that one. The edge panels I believe are also independent of the launcher, so you SHOULD be fine on those too.

As others have said the S-Pen will work with other launchers. I've tried a few and the features work with all of them.

That's good to hear. I've been trying to TouchWiz out since I got the phone, but little things I can't control or don't like how they look have me tempted to go back to Nova. I'll give it another few days, but I'm glad to hear I won't lose any functionality if I leave TouchWiz.

I've been using Nova launcher and the S Pen features and edge panel features all work correctly. No difference when using another launcher.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but there is one S pen feature that will not be available on any 3rd party launchers. Namely, once you create a note, in Touchwiz you can pin it to the home screen. Not so in any other launcher.

Ugh. I hate stock Android and use Nova Prime.

On my Note 5 with Nova Prime launcher I can pin a note to the home screen. I don't know why they would remove that on the Note 7.

I already tested it. There is a little menu that comes up with touchwiz that includes pin to home screen. Do the same thing in noble launcher, and that item never appears on the menu.

I just looked at mine again and it will let me minimize an Action Memo but I guess there's no way to pin it to the home screen. Guess I've just never had a need to pin a note to the home screen because I've always used the S Note widget.

And that's a good option too. Matter of fact, I was just experimenting with using onenote as my note app, I thought about the same thing: using a widget to keep it on the home screen

The S Note widget works well for me. I just keep it on an extra screen.

It's the wallpaper than came with the theme I am using from the Theme Store. The Theme is " Gold Black"
I'm using a different icon pack instead of what came with the theme.
