LCD Issue

New here, tried searching forums but did not find anything related to my query.

I recently bought a new Moto X 2nd Gen and I noticed the following which comes up when I'm pressing the Settings Button. Basically I installed a free navigation system from the play store, and whenever I press the Settings the Screen turns as below. What I find strange is that the not the whole screen turns grainy. Hence is it an LCD issue or not? Since the Moto has a full LCD and it is not partitioned as far as I know, both the Notification Panel and Bottom capacative keys keep crystal clear.

Any ideas? thanks :)

The Moto X uses an AMOLED display, not an LCD. But that's not super important for this issue.

I do not know the root cause of the problem, but I know it's related to the app. My best guess is that something is causing the background texture to become corrupt before it's displayed. I ran into it with Feedly on both my Moto X and my wife's Nexus 5 when they were first updated to Lollipop, but some semi-recent Feedly update fixed it. It may be that the navigation app you are trying to use is not updated for Lollipop.

If you're looking for an application with offline navigation (which most people are when they try to avoid Google Maps) you could take a look at MapFactor.

You're right about the amoled display, I tend to use the word wrongly.

Hmm thinking about it yes feedly was doing something similar and makes sense what you said.
Haven't given much tought about it since on my Nexus 7 it haven't done it but it even rarely on my Moto X. I'll take note of that
Thanks for the reply and help :)

Yeah, it scared me when I saw it on my Moto X, but when I saw it was happening on the Nexus 5 as well I figured it must be a bug in the app.
