Was browsing the XDA forums and noticed someone mentioned the leak did not have the JIT compiler included. I no longer am running 2.2, but any of you still with it think this is true? Not sure of a way to test either...

maybe that's why the performance gains aren't where one would think they would be....

i wish i knew how to check to see if it was there...

I dont think its there. Look around the web for tests with the leaked 2.2 for the Evo and then with the official OTA. If i remember correctly there were some pretty dramatic differences in quadrant and linpack. I know most of us say that those numbers dont really mean anything but what else could explain the increase on the official 2.2 compared to the leaked 2.2? Im thinking we are in the same situation with our leak. Those of us still running the leak will probably have a difficult update to the OTA just like the Evo had as well.

being that we can just sbf back to 2.1 we shouldn't have as hard of a time as the evo users did.

right? :)

Performance gains are incredible, Quadrant scores jumped from 1230 to 1432! Faster than a 2.2 Nexus one.

I have gotten as high as 1516, on 2.1 my highest was 1281.

I flashed the 2.2 deodexed ROM the other day and havent done any other tweaks and im steadily getting around 1900 quadrant and 18 on linpack.

I'm almost 100% certain that it does have JIT enabled. And, I consistently get Quadrant scores in the 2000-2200 range. Granted, I did enable stagefright, but even before that I was getting consistent scores in the 1500's+. As well, word has it that the Linpack scores don't really mean much of anything on TI OMAP processors / don't test them correctly. So, I wouldn't worry too much about the Linpack scores on the lower side. I get probably 15-20 in Linpack.

@irishpride.. does deodexing even have performance gains at all? I always thought that deodexing was pretty much only used so that you can customize / re-theme things more. I didn't realize it gave performance gains at all. If anything, I actually read that .apk's are odex'd in the first place to save space / performance gains. So, I'd think that if anything deodexing might hurt performance slightly, although probably negligible.

Can someone explain the stagefright enabling thing?

Don't waste your time on it, the only benefit is higher Quadrant scores. But if you must know, here's what it is:

/system/build.prop has 4 lines, each has the word stagefright in it.

Stock 2.2 has these all set to false, if you set them to true it enables the stagefright decoder for video files. It is much faster but it breaks video playback on the phone. You have to have root to modify it though.
