Leaked AT&T 1.85 update

I've called HTC and complained via email about the data drops. HTC said they've not heard any reports of this.. WHAT?

It's extremely frustrating to see LTE signal, the data in/out icons moving, just no data!

The emailed response from HTC was that they wanted me to troubleshoot some basic steps, airplande mode on/off, mobile network off/on, pull SIM out, power off, pop SIM back in.. .. wtf? I'm a BES admin, troubleshooting is my JOB. I've even replaced the SIM with a new one!

So frustrating.

yea its nuts, I'm getting db real good signal at 75, then literally two seconds later it goes to 101. It seems to happen when I send data like a text it goes to over 100, then bounces back to 80 or so....just so ridiculous

the good thing is I havent dropped a single call so its all so weird

That could be because of the way AT&T handles camping for HSPA+. Most of the time the phone will camp on 1900 and when you need to be on 850 for coverage, it will switch you over instantaneously. It may look like your phone is going mad but you will experience faster data and way fewer dropped calls with better sound quality.

Or it could be your phone switching data between HSPA+ and LTE, which should not affect voice because all voice is currently handled through WCDMA, which is the base technology HSPA+ is laid on top of.

New to Android. Does anyone have link or a document that explains how to update to 1.85.
I got my phone a couple of weeks ago and am having problems where it will not give me the power off option from the main screen, also when I open a new application others running just go away. I am running version 1.73.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I have another point to mention. Due to the way CSFB is engineered, on a voice call simultaneous data will fall back to HSPA+. This will happen until Voice Over LTE is enabled by AT&T. I don't know if the One X supports VoLTE. I'm sure the Qualcomm modem firmware supports it, as the MSM8960 chipset in the One X was used to test VoLTE fallback to WCDMA.

Qualcomm performs the first successful voice-over-LTE call with handover to WCDMA

If u just want to update to 1.85 then just click on the link and download the file, then just double click the file and run it. Alsomake sure ur phone is in USB debugging mode.

[STOCK] AT&T RUU_Evita_UL_Cingular_US-1.85.502 - xda-developers

BUT!!! If u want to get root and also unlock ur boot loader then first root ur phone from 1.78 or 1.83 firmware using one click method. Then change ur cid using this method?

[TOOL] OneClick SuperCID for Unlocking Bootloader - xda-developers

Then update to the 1.85 firmware.?

Then go to htcdev.com to unlock ur boot loader. Then flash clockwork mode rexoceey using this method?

?[TOOL] One Click CWM Recovery Install - xda-developers

Then when ur bootloader is unlock and u have the recovery on, just flash a rooted 1.85 or a custom rom!!! !
