Leaving M8 on high performance mode(cause damage or shorter phone life?)

I just put my my m8 for fun on high performance mode and the difference is so big I'm leaving it here. Its fantastic.

Smooth with no pauses or lag.
Does not even seem to get hot.

Can any damage be done?
I also turned off the animations as well which could also contribute to the speed feeling really fast. My battery does not appear to be draining much faster. Could this damage the phone in the long run or kill the battery?

Higher battery drain is the only thing I can think of that would be a direct effect of the setting. A higher drain may be more apparent in a complex game like racing games or shooters.

Edit: just be aware of any higher temps. That will be a good indication to possibly turn it off.
