Can prepare me for any issues leaving Verizon? We will be keeping 2 lines with Verizon and taking my line to Project Fi. What do I need to know? Thanks!

Check to see how solid T-Mobile and Sprint are in your area.

Then at least you won't have to give up some features you may have gotten used to with Google Voice. If you do have Google Voice you'll lose that number by transferring your Verizon number

I ported my verizon number over two months ago. It was pretty painless. Only issue I have isn't tied to VZW. I received texts/emails from businesses/services I had text alerts setup that my mobile number/service had changed/disabled. Easy enough to login update but only about half of them list/support Project FI. For those that don't I've enabled mobile push alerts via their own apps. Not a deal breaker for me. I'm very happy with Project FI and having $35 bill.... Saving $80 a month well worth it. Wish I had jumped sooner.

I switched from Verizon to Project Fi 6 months ago, and I'm so happy I did. I get exactly the same coverage in my area that I did on Verizon.

I ditched my Verizon number and ported my Google Voice number over. My bill on Verizon was $99/month, and my average bill on Project Fi has been $45. I love the pricing structure, and that you only pay for what you use. I also have a data sim in my boyfriend's iPad. He doesn't use much data, but I put it in there just in case he wanted to use it.

Finally, last week I was on vacation in the Dominican Republic, and having Fi was great. The access was HSPA instead of LTE, but it was the same price. I also got unlimited SMS and calls were only ¢.20/min. If I were on Verizon I would have an outlandish bill after that trip.

I came over from Verizon in Feb. I'm still evaluating. I like the pricing structure, my bill has been $25 the last 2 months and is looking to be lower this month. The coverage has been so-so. Sometimes my phone won't grab a signal at all and will need a kick to airplane mode and back or a reboot in order to grab a signal. However, I can actually get calls at work (WiFi calling), I had NO signal at my desk with Verizon and the 6P doesn't support WiFi calling with them.

I feel like the switching algorithm and the WiFi calling decisions need a little work. I would rather it prefer WiFi calling when there is a strong WiFi connection, regardless of the cellular connection available.

If I could get WiFi calling and functioning visual voicemail on Verizon using something other than a Samsung, I'd actually consider switching back.

I switched from Verizon and the process was painless.

However, there is one thing to note, and that is that you're going to need your Verizon info: account number and "billing PIN" - this is different from your account password. Verizon was able to reset my billing PIN via online support chat. After that, once my Fi SIM came in, I popped it in, went through the porting process, entered my Verizon info, and my number was ported. I got a message saying that it could take up to 3 business days to port the number, but it took about 2 minutes, and I quickly confirmed by sending myself a text from another phone.

The switching process is as easy as it can be. I've been loving my Fi service thus far (1 day left on my first month and I'm only at 0.49GB used). Can't complain at all. The app makes it very easy to watch your data usage, and as of the last update, they have a widget that shows your stats.

Left Verizon about 2 weeks ago for Fi. Really couldn't be happier.
Between the better coverage (with WiFi calling available in buildings without or weak signal) and lower price can't complain. Since we don't use much data off of WiFi, my wife and I are going to be cutting our bill by more than half. We typically use < 1GB per month together.

I'm wanting to leave Verizon and try this, but it says it's not available in Iowa. Yet doing research online, it says it is available in Iowa? Anyone know what's up?

I'm sure it's available in parts of Iowa... It might not be in your zip code. Have you looked at Project FI coverage? I would also recommend using a few signal / coverage apps from Play Store. Since most are using app user based testing their results can vary widely or show no testing at all. Especially when you need look at both Sprint and TMO maps. Also consider how much you are connected to WiFi.

It should. My question is if it will successfully activate on Android N; while I'm not aware of any issues, the beta is not supported by Fi. I have Android N on my Fi phone and am having no issues with Fi and the Android N beta, at least that I've seen, though I did activate it when I was on Marshmallow.

I've been considering switching to Project Fi from Verizon, but my main concern is coverage, at home and at work. We only get Verizon inside office building, my previous T-Mobile phone had zero bars at the office.
I finally decided to try Project Fi before porting my Verizon phone number. So i signed up for Fi and will try the sim card with random phone number they'll assign for a few days, see how the coverage is on my 6P. If all good, hoping to ditch verizon. But i have a feeling the Fi coverage won't match Verizon's :(

Anyone had trouble when switching Verizon and Fi sim cards on the same phone? It doesn't get locked up, does it? In case Fi coverage doesn't work out for me, i'll stay with Verizon.

In all honesty, my coverage got WORSE at home (like, NO signal inside with Fi despite being within 2 miles of a highway and 4 miles of a tower) and better at work where I had ZERO signal on Verizon unless I went outside and no WiFi calling. The HUGE positive for me (in both places) is WiFi calling. As a result, signal doesn't matter unless my power goes out, but I could walk less than 1/4 mile down the road and have full bars.

Coverage seems to be acceptable in most or all other places I may need it, so far. I did the "rip the Band-Aid off" method and just ported my number right over.

I received my 5x and Fi SIM last week, and activated it while on Android N Preview 4. I've had zero issues, and roaming between Sprint and T-Mobile on both CDMA and LTE have been great.

Me and my wife left Verizon to Fi. Great coverage in the Detroit area and bill went from $170 a month to $60. Can't beat it

Wish google would open up fi to all brand phones

I don't think it's a matter of Google opening it up as much as the fact that only Nexus phones currently have the necessary technology to switch to various carriers as well as wifi in order to take full advantage of Fi.
