led notification colors

Is there a way to force the LED on or test it out somehow? I've been installing and testing various email apps and somewhere along the line the LED is no longer working at all. I've uninstalled the email apps I was testing, turned off the LED in settings, restarted, turned it back on... etc.

Nevermind the above... taking the battery out for a bit solved the issue. Only leaving the post in case someone else runs into it.

Idk if this has been posted already but the notificationlight is not only red. If you're charging your phone once its fully charges it changes to blue. I also noticed that while the phone was still plugged in but fully charge with the blue light, everytime I got a notification it would flash a light purple.
So to recount:
Red
Blue
Purple

Duh! Red+Blue= Purple

But do they actually work the way you want them to? Like different colors for different types of notifications? I haven't seen / heard of any confirmation of them being able to do this...

I can confirm this doesn't work for Handcent.

Duh! Red+Blue= Purple

Haha it wasn't really purple. Maybe more like a magenta or fuscia (or howerver the hell you spell it)

I only get red notification lights. Blue when charged but that is all. And the notification doesn't seem to last long.

Can you either reply or PM me, OK So I have the dock and I use that to charge my device, its been all night and the LED is a SOLID Red ( and yes I have pending notifications) ,. and at the bottom of the dock it has a blue light( but im assuming thats just for the dock itself nothing to do with the phone), My question is does this Blue Light color to indicate a full charge ONLY work if you have the device charging OUTSIDE the dock? - Also when phone is just idle and not on charger and I receive a notification it just blinks Red, I have yet to see any other colors appear on mine just red.

My notification light only works for about 10seconds and then cuts out. I noticed if I press the side power button to turn the screen on and then off again, the notification light will re-appear, but again only for 10 seconds. I'm going to return mine for another since I rely heavily on that light.

Don't exchange it since this obviously affects all/most the phones. The other galaxy phones don't have notification lights, so the software probably wasn't optimized to use it properly. This is something an update or root could probably fix pretty easily, just give it a little time. If you return your phone then you'll probably have the same issue and you'll just throw a good phone into the refurbish process while taking an available one away from a potential customer. Have you tried rebooting your phone or doing a battery pull? I find that mine doesn't work properly "sometimes" but it's been working just fine lately. I rebooted my phone last night.

Still can't get other colors besides red to work, but like I said, I'm sure that'll come with time.

What are your settings? Every app that i set for asking for a differnt color (other than red) is not blinking. I tried Hansent & IMEasy so far. They both blink red for notifications. I do see that the phone has different colors for led tho (red, blue, magenta/pink). I am not rooted. Is therw an app that I can purchase? I tried Blink, but it didnt' work on my phone - or I have to fix the settings.

red, blue, magenta. Blue for plugging in: nothing else, no way to modify atm. Red for notifications. Magenta for plugged in and notification (I haven't heard of this one except in this thread, but I totally believe it). Sadly, there are no other colors.

Caliskimmer, I know you have an Evo (you like to tell us a lot ) j/k of course... but anyway, I've never played with one, what types of colors do they have for LED notifications? A huge variety?

Sorry about that! I honestly do not mean to showboat or anything. It's just that we have new members every day and I want them to know that I have an Evo. I have red, green, and orange for both led lights.

You sure it's not a combination of red and blue? I checked the dialer menus and purple refuses to show up. If you are right, though, then that is great!

I have autorun killer set to only kill drm protected content storage, sprint football, etc. Do we even need to kill drm anymore?! What do people who don't read this forun do? You know, casual buyers?

Anyway, I wonder why my phone did this. It sucks that this phone isn't perfect. And I hate killers and third party stuff. That's why I deleted task killer et al. What should I do? Can anyone diagnose?

Thank you so much for helping. I think the whole android community can actually use this thread as a springboard to learn and revisit the following major topics:

1) should we still be killing drm?
2) what is the best way to manage tasks naturally w/o a killer? Note: with touchwiz you can have a widget that leads you to task manager but on launcherpro (what I use) you can't.
3) why does the epic sometimes forget how to sleep even when you have followed all the workarounds, etc?


...and a side note, why is this keyboard so imperfect???? It would be so nice if I could type indiscriminantly without the occasional key skip every sentence or so. I have had to slow down my typing considerably from my days with a blackbrry just so that the keyboard doesn't skip. And it is doing it so much right now!!!

That is one of the reasons why I switched to using the Evo. I couldn't get the keys to register too well and it is one of the things that I was really disappointed about.

Its really awful. You have to press each key with such purpose. No quick-typing like on the bb
