Lenovo A3500-HV tab refuses to get charged !

I have been using my Lenovo tab now like 3 years,no problem at all, recently i turned it into a hotspot to share my unlimited 3g network via Wi-Fi , it was plugged to power like 8 to 10 hours daily for two weeks until last night i switched it off, next thing in the morning it won't get charged any more unless switched off.
Add to that it can't be detected if plugged in to my pc USB port too ... i thought maybe the cable is the problem since I'm not using the original one,...I'm afraid what if i buy a new cable and the problem still persists?

If a different cable doesn't help, then the main possibilities are a faulty microUSB port or a faulty battery. Either way, you'd probably have to take it to a repair shop to diagnose it.

thanks for the reply , well i bought a new cable and unfortunately my problem wasn't solved, the tab started to charge for a while,then it just stopped ,a repair shop seems like the only choice i have for now .

Does it start charging if you wiggle the cable where it connects to the tablet? If so, then there's probably a loose connection somewhere.

If the device is 3 years old, I'm guessing it's the original battery. That's already a long life for one battery and was probably already getting weak. Li-ion batteries also don't like being held at a full charge level. Keeping it plugged in and fully charged for so long during those two weeks was probably enough to completely do it in. That's where I'd start first, replacing the battery. Even if that isn't the underlying problem, it was most likely due for one anyway.
