Let Google know about signal issues here

I just visited my local store and the phone is fine there. It is just at home that I seem to have a problem so they suggested that I update my Airave. I have an older one (2 years) and they said the new ones are much much better. So, I came home and called Sprint and they are sending me a new one. We will see if this helps. If it does then I will keep this phone and hope that things improve with an upcoming update.

if your by an airrave the signal is fine but the data can still be slow. an airrave is not a fix for us users.

i also believe the 60-90 day wait for a fix because the radio will come from samsung, not google. samsung is notorious for dragging their heels. i can only hope the next nexus is not built by them.

Winning!

i must be late to the game; what makes skinneejay's comment correct or quotable?

Because I'm Bi-Winning Duh!

Nothing at all. I was just guessing. Being a programmer I know updates don't roll out over night.
Usually you touch one thing something else needs to be updated. Then after you finish the coding part. Testing will need to be done before anything is sent out to customers.

After looking at the coding and seeing what other people have written I'm pretty sure its something
to do with the way the phone picks up the signal and switches from WCDMA to unknown.

I would guess its a software issue all the way.

Well you guys made engadget. Nice job. I have been noticing issues now myself. Wtf. It doesnt bother me since I'm not downloading large files. But strange. I still think its a software bug or maybe even a data cap by sprint.

I'm kind of on the fence about returning the NS4G as well...I'm not really having wifi connection issues, just 4G. Even though I think I would keep 4G off anyway, it would be nice to know that it would work since I am paying the $10 fee.

Just to note, you pay the $10 fee regardless having a 4G phone or not. The fee is now for any smartphone.

getting fed up with Sprint!

Like most of the posts I too am experiencing the same issues with reception/connectivity. I had a BB Tour and it had awesome reception! I have been a Sprint customer for over 13 years, lived and traveled all over the US, and rarely if ever had reception problems when others on different carriers did. I have been by several Sprint stores and have spoken to customer care but it seems like I know more about the issue than they do. I do love the device and it's seamless integration with Google but the reception issues are a KILLER! The NS4G obviously has issues and a fix needs to come sooner than later before those remaining die hard Sprint customers (including myself) jump ship and head than another carrier!

Speedtest on my phone definitely shows reception problems. Even my wifi isn't that strong.

Please share your review on Sprint.com. Let's alert other potential buyers about these issues. At the least just submit a "star" review.

just remember to change it back once the issue is fixed... assuming it gets fixed. no need to keep the phone bashed after the fact

Just keep in mind the Epic is the same way. I spoke to several customers who have reception and signal issues with the Samsung Radios. I thought to try Samsung after like soooo many years. Thought they had gotten it right...yeah!
