I never thought you meant the clothes. I was just explaining to the person who didn't understand. LOL.
I read many UK authors' books and watch many UK films and shows, so I'm very familiar with UK English. I even use UK English as the default language on my phone, tablet and PC.![]()
Oh, once I had read the entire post and saw the photo, I did know she meant chest/closet/whatever. Frankly, at my age I have "clothes" but less of a wardrobe - maybe I should set aside a burial wardrobe!!!

But reading this first sentence:
"Once I got the wardrobe home Star and Frizzles thought jumping on top was a good idea"
I humorously pictured her cats jumping over an array of new clothes.
Armoire? For a freestanding "closet" but my home as real built-in closets. Although when purchasing many years ago, there were a number of homes which did not have built-ins. You would need armoire/wardrobe in every bedroom.
