so what's the next changes you guys think pie would bring?
In what sense you mean for 10 or like a point update or something else entirely?
Like before pie ends and the new OS comes
Just the pixel...

And night mode....did you hear those or just guessing?
Night Mode is not an OS feature....camera app will deliver that.
Getting a new phone is like getting a new house, car, golf clubs, skis or tennis racquet. Those who spend time researching and joining forums tend to well informed and pick what they are confident they will like. That said, there is a learning curve. Every device/operating system has it's quirks and secrets. 3 weeks in, I love my Pixel 3. My mother, wife and daughter all use iOS devices which work well, for them. I don't like the iOS, for me. I have used Android starting Day 1 and am always impressed and pleased with the progress made in each release. After a happy string of HTC flagships, I had two FAILS in 2017 (U11, Pixel 2) and settled for an LG G6 that has just not been fun for me. With that as a long prelude, the P3 has a great, responsive screen (not crazy about the keyboard), and navigates well. I used Nova on my G6 but am satisfied with the stock P3 browser, so far. Previously, I was always a bit confused not knowing whether a feature was Android or phone manufacturer (eg HTC Sense), so it is nice to leave that behind. I am still learning some of the many settings, but think that this Pie is very tasty.
I had a long detailed response, but I've edited because the arguments thrown out by others are unintentionally condescending and circular.
Folks should feel free to feel good about their purchases, but don't need to get defensive when people raised defects or inconsistencies about features or products.
The points provided may not bother people, but that doesn't take away from the fact they exist. Products improve with feedback, and the only folks I see being critical of other's opinions are those who are overly protective of their own experiences or purchases.
Google should overhaul their gesture system for the many points I've raised. They should go from one gesture and two buttons to at least two gestures. Even if the back button needs to remain, leaving home as a button press feels lazy.

@mustang7757 While you've touched future desires/expectations of 9.0, I'm going to run with that a bit and blow it all the way out with what I envision for the future of the OS on Pixel. Full disclosure, I may be on the wrong side of the dirt by the time all this comes to fruition.
I see the base OS to continue to edit itself down to basic functions and the features of the device will be customized with AI/ML. Features and apps (something like a PWA or an Instant App) will be developed in the cloud and downloaded per user specifications through GA. Basically, move the Play Store inside of GA.
For security and privacy, on device AI/ML would utilize an advanced version of Federated Learning that's currently being used in Gboard, the Now Playing and Screen Call feature. Local AI is the future, but the silicone development isn't there yet to handle that kind of workload. Need a lot of processing power, for sure. More than what we've got today.

When I get home later I want to share my thinking ...
Being out never stopped you from thinking before![]()
