LG and Google announce the Nexus 4, 8GB $299

Like you and I T-Mobile is buying them from Google and selling them at a subsidized price. The Nexus 4 ins't a T-Mobile exclusive and Google isn't going to bend backwards to make any special features or exceptions for T-Mobile.

My only point is that because T-Mobile is selling the Nexus 4, there is an affiliation there between Google and T-Mobile - countering your "Google is avoiding any carrier affiliation" claim.

Latest Android™ Devices
T-Mobile will continue its history of providing customers the best Android devices available, including two of the newest options: the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.

Nexus 4 is the latest device in the Google Nexus lineup and T-Mobile will be the premier U.S. launch partner. With cutting edge hardware designed collaboratively by LG and Google, favorite Google Apps, and the latest version of Android, Nexus 4 puts the best of Google in the palm of a customer’s hand. And, with access to T-Mobile’s fastest 4G (HSPA+42) network, T-Mobile is again giving its customers the best choice of devices. Nexus 4 comes with a high-performance 8MP camera and takes stunning Photo Sphere images to capture every detail of the world. The all new camera lets customers quickly view and edit photos with powerful new tools, and share favorite shots in a snap. When combined with T-Mobile’s Value plans or T-Mobile’s Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan, the Nexus 4 gives consumers a top-notch Android experience.

With a stunning 7” display, powerful quad-core processor and all-day battery life, Nexus 7 was built to bring the best of Google in a slim, portable device. With a vibrant, 1280-by-800 high-resolution display, Nexus 7 brings apps, games, books and movies to life in stunning clarity. Over one million pixels in your hand means text is sharper, HD movies are more vivid and gameplay is smooth and dynamic. All of this is protected under scratch-resistant Corning™ Gorilla Glass and designed for the whole family to pass around and enjoy. Nexus 7 was built by ASUS and comes with a NVIDIA? Tegra? 3 quad core processor so everything is faster – pages load quickly, gameplay is smooth and responsive, and running multiple apps is a breeze.

Just because T-Mobile is selling them on contract, doesn't mean Google is working with T-Mobile. Nexus devices work on all carrier frequencies.

It won't work with Verizon or Sprint - the two CDMA carriers. This phone appears to be a GSM exclusive, no matter how you look at it. :) :)

Looking at the specs and pictures on the play store, where's this SlimPort HDMI ? Excuse my ignorance I only see the mico-usb port at the bottom.

Are they both in the same port?

I want to know what a SlimPort is too. Is a SlimPort like MHL or Micro HDMI or even something else? This leaves me confused and drawing aggro like a MF and nobody likes an angry zombie dog.

I like what I saw, so I'll be getting one. They hit the price point I was looking for. Only wish could pre-order one right now, but I'm sure that's right around the corner.

That's one thing I'm happy about--the delay. I've never seen a company handle a pre-order so chaotically as Google did with the Nexus 7.

You'll have to be really dumb to buy this on-contract for $199 when the full blown MSRP is only $299-$349

Definitely thinking about picking this phone up. The only other phones in contention is the 8x and note 2.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the delay for pre-order. Google definitely doesn't want to go through that again.

So is it worth dumping Verizon for this phone?

Yes, I'm grandfathered in. I'm not as technical as you guys with this so I'm curious....there is no way this phone will work with Verizon? If not, this is the exact reason why I was hoping for multiple Nexus devices because now people have to decide whether to dump their carrier or not. I'm disappointed with Google right now.

Nope. Different radio technologies.

Why aren't more people pissed about this? I guess its either the Note 2 or HTC DLX for me.

I think because it's understandable--Google had such a bad experience with Verizon and the GN that they simply don't want to play ball.

I'm kind of on the fence after my Nexus 7 ordering fiasco. I'm betting things will be improved, since it was well documented by the media. Anyone know if it's a micro-sim or a nano-sim? I can't wait to dump my iPhone 5 and iOS, so I guess I will fumble with a dumb phone for a few days. Just hate needing to go back and forth to the AT&T store to get updated SIM cards. Please, please, Google, don't shank this process...
