I almost posted a thread the other day on this too....wow that Google calculator is terrible.

I'm back to the great "Calculator Plus" from the play store. Its really awesome and simple if you want 3rd party.

Turns out Verizon model did have the messaging app:

And I used an app called App Backup and Restore from the Play Store to get the apk.
