LG G Pad 8.3 no sim card installed?

Bought the Note 4 from Verizon and they gave me a "free" LG G pad and it seems to be on their 4g and works great but says no sim card installed....is that important?

Without the SIM card it will not get mobile data.

And you know it's $10 per month to add to your shared plan as well.
