Hey guys I have a LG G2 it is great (fast, sleek) however I noticed that yesterday and today my battery life is terrible. Any thoughts or Idea

Re: Battery

I came to the g2 from the HTC rezound. And, personally, I can't believe how good the battery life is on the g2. I consider myself a power user and have absolutely no problems getting through the day without having to charge the phone.

Did it just start or has it been like that since day 1? Normally when you see abnormal battery drain it's from an app (a poorly coded app). Think about the last few apps you installed, and start removing them one by one until battery life improves. Or do a factory reset and start adding apps one by one until you determine what the rogue app is.

Also, how's your signal strength? Does the phone feel warm/hot when you notice the battery draining?

Re: Battery

Did not start from day one. Started yesterday. Thanks for the tip I started to do that I removed a few apps today and see how it goes.

Re: Battery

I have had mine for less then a week and I get lots of battery time. Only once so far it got to 10% battery left and this was at 11:30pm. I will charge it and start my day at 7am and it goes the whole day and night and through the next day til about 8pm (about 10-12%). I am a heavy user too.

Re: Battery

I was underwhelmed with the battery life on mine. I had a Droid Bionic before this with an extended 2600mah battery. It lasted longer than the G2 but the screen was smaller and lower res so that may be why. The g2 is fine except for when using navigation with the screen on. It will only last through two or three hours of that.

Re: Battery

Then why bother having the phone at all? I didn't pay this much for a nice phone to have the display turned down to minimum brightness and to turn useful features off. I'll just use the phone normally and charge more often. Keep one charger at the office, one home and one in the car and your fine.

I agree. The only things I make sure to turn off are GPS, Bluetooth, and Wifi when I'm not using it and even with full brightness I am usually able to get home with at least 60-75% battery left and that's after using it with Car Home Ultra on the drive home. This is the first phone I've had that I don't even think about plugging it in at work.

did you read my post? "I SUFFER NO HARDSHIPS DOING THIS"

this means that i personally am giving up NOTHING with these tips. i'm not giving up any features. there are no tradeoffs for me. a tradeoff or a hardship would be to turn off PUSH email or use AIRPLANE mode during the day etc. get it?

you find your own balance and the tips list is a start but you must come to your own conclusion as to what's important. it's personal preference but these are not a big deal to me at all as they do not affect the function or operation of my phone. these tips do not deteriorate my experience.

If you can't get through the day with this phone with mid to heavy use. Ether you have an app that's dipping out our your just a very heavy user. I went from the DNA to the G2 and see a 30% increase in battery life from the Snap400 to a Snap800.

The first day I got my G2 my battery life wasn't so hot mainly because I had everything turned on the next day and the day after I turned off more and more of what I was not using and battery life increased alot less idle drain. Yesterday I let my phone charge over night and the battery life was actually better then it had been the day before, I think that if you unplug the phone as soon as it says its finished charging, that it actually is not 100% more like 98-99% it took a good while longer to go from 100% to 99% OR it could be because I didn't interrupt the charge at all at night vs when I charge during the day I will check txt messages or take calls.

Using the phone(playing games in my case) while its charging definitely had an effect on my Evo 4g LTE it would cause the phone to say it finished charging way earlier then if I didn't play a game on it, this definitely seemed to hurt battery life, maybe smaller things like txting or talking on phone while charging does the same.

I have only been using my phone in the medium use category since at work for the last few days and I get two days out of my phone. The battery life has been great and I will try and use it heavy over the next few days to see but the last two weeks is the best I have experienced.

My LG G2 has been terrific on battery usage. I have had it for 2 months. I could charge it up at night and it would still be 100% the next morning . But 2 days ago just overnight without using it , it goes from 100% that night to 82 % by the next morning. I cannot find what is using so much of my battery. The only thing I added was the Myxer App . I uninstalled that , but it has made no difference so far. Can't imaging why. Nothing has changed .

I ultimately had to call Verizon up and with my total protection plan they were able to send me a new replacement G2 for no cost at all. I had complained to them about not getting the right amount of battery life that most people usually receive with their G2. And I've been mindful of what apps I download and what may run in the background and only use wifi when it's available and turn it off when only mobile signal is available as well as keeping my gps and bluetooth off as well when not being used. All these precautions and my battery life would still go to about 50% sometime in the early part of the afternoon.

My replacement G2 should arrive this afternoon so hopefully this will have a fresh battery which discharges at a good rate allowing me to finally get good usable life out of the phone throughout a whole day without having to worry about charging it everywhere I go unless I'm on a long trip using the gps. In that case I plug it in.

Good luck with yours and if you have the Verizon insurance you may want to give them a call and ask them for a free replacement due to a defective battery.

The device has a one year warranty, so you don't need to pay extra for insurance to replace a defective device within that year. Swap it out as many times as you like. The only caveat is you get a CLN (Certified Like New) replacement.

I believe the Verizon insurance that you pay extra for also covers damage that you may cause, like dropping it.

Yeah, well the kicker is that I bought my LG G2 off of a guy from Craigslist so I don't have any of the original paper work or receipt etc. And if I didn't have the Verizon protection plan I probably wouldn't be able to claim it under the one year manufacturers warranty unless I had all my paperwork. Also the VZ protection plan extends the manufacturers warranty to 2 or maybe even 3 years! With this plan it was basically no questions asked about when and where the phone was originally purchased as long as it wasn't tampered with or rooted which it wasn't. The Verizon protection plan does cover for damages accidentally caused by you or if it's lost or stolen but there's like a $50 deductible fee which is still better than getting a new phone or even a used one out of contract. I'll continue paying for my VZ protection plan because I've definitely gotten my money back and then some so many times. ;-)

Too bad the g2 has a non removable battery... So no zero lemon battery for you...

Again, if you own an HTC phone, your battery life sucks compared to the g2. Of course there is a one in one thousand chance of anything whacky happening. But HTC battery life sucks. Period.

I picked up an M8 on Saturday and my battery life has been on par, if not a little better, with my G2.
