Are you referring to the method on xda?
Sent from my LG-G2 running Carbon 4.4.2
Not sure if this was on xda. Seems kind of risky though. Here is the link:
Update LG G2 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat without Losing Root (D800, D801 and D802)
You should have a nandroid backup in TWRP just in case something goes wrong. Not sure about the method from Droid Views.
This method on xda allows you to have Kitkat, root, and custom recovery.

Do you recommend it? What would be the advantages?
I would only suggest using this method if you're still on the 10d stock LG firmware. Otherwise, you would have to go back to 10d, root, install TWRP, and flash the files for this method.
The advantage of using this method is being able to boot into 20c (KitKat) while keeping the old bootloader {compatible with custom recovery).
Flashing a stable KitKat ROM might be a better option.

I didn't notice anything very significant when I had the KitKat update.
(2) screen color adjustment settings
Sent from my LG-G2 running Carbon
Does this mean you could make the screen warmer or cooler, color-wise? I actually preferred the warmer tone of the screen on the N5.
Yeah, there's a few color calibration setting that can be adjusted.

If I did this would it ruin xposed or the camera mod I flashed?
It won't ruin xposed or the cam mod. You'll still be able to use them, but you might have to reinstall xposed and reflash can mod.

Okay, so I finally did this. Afterwards, it looks like I'm no longer rooted. I run a root check and it says Application Superuser not found (it is still listed in my apps) and Terminal not Rooted. Sooo...what now?
Do you have a backup in TWRP?
Sent from my G2 running PAC-ROM
Well, I have several things, but I'm not sure what to even to with them to be totally honest. Using Flashify I made backups of the TWRP recovery and kernel. And I used Titanium to make backups of all data and apps and everything (although all that stuff seems fine).
Okay, so this might work. Looking on the XDA forums, this should allow an update to 4.4.2 while keeping custom recovery which it did. Then you need to re-root. So the question is can I do that using the same method I did the first time or now that I'm on 4.4.2 is another re-root method needed? SactoKingsFan - what did you do?
