Is your G3 carrier-specific? If so, are you using it on that carrier, or did you unlock it to use on a different carrier? Over-the-air updates for carrier-specific devices usually require the phone to be on that carrier's network.

You may be able to use the LG Bridge computer program to manually update the phone, assuming there's a valid update available for your specific model: LG BRIDGE - COPY FILES, AND BACKUP YOUR DEVICE
