LG G3 D855 How can I disable the proximity sensor?

My problem is the screen goes blank when making a call and does not wake up. I cannot therefore use the keypad or terminate a call.
I replaced the screen a while back and everything worked fine for 5 months until now.
I am looking to disable the proximity sensor as it does not work so the screen is then on all the time when making a call.
I have not been able to do it through settings so is there an app that would do the trick.
Model is D855
Any help much appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! The G3 Vigor has an option in the Call Settings: LG G3 Vigor User Guide. Is that available in the G3?

Do you have a screen protector or a case? A dirty screen protector or an ill-fitting case might obscure the proximity sensor, leading to issues like this.

Thanks for that. It doesn't have the setting option but I'll try cleaning it. Had it open several times because of this so maybe I've let dust in. Worth a try !

You can monitor the proximity sensor values in order to obtain more information whether your proximity sensor works or not and what may cause the problem as well as to virtually disable the proximity sensor when in calls, made and received and, also, to make the proximity sensor control the screen with the application Proximity Sensor and Screen. There is a good description how tom use the application inside the application.

I've got the app.

Is there a way to make the app DISABLE the proximity sensor so that my screen doesn't keep coming on everytime the phone is moved. Maybe disable completely...except for when on a call. So that the screen blanks to avoid face dialing.

I believe you would have to be rooted to do this. Or running a custom firmware that allows for this setting natively.
