LG G3 D855 intermittently rejecting SIM

I've had my G3 for just under two years. I've never had any problems with it, it isn't rooted. Recently I started getting the error 'sim card removed' and the phone will shutdown and restart. When it restarts, sometimes it works again but most of the time it says I have no sim card or just constantly searches for a network, so I can call, text or use data. Sometimes it does it up to 10 times a day and then goes several days without the error. I've had the same EE sim since I got the phone, I tried my sim in two other handsets and it works fine in them. I've also tried a number of apps that others have recommended which should help and none seem to work.

My phone is still within warranty so I sent it to LG to repair but they sent it back saying they couldn't replicate the error. They've asked me to send it again but I know the same thing will happen again and they will just return it.

I've heard this is a common error in LG phones . Does anyone know what causes the error, maybe afaulty component or a software update? Has anyone had it successfully repaired by LG? And if they don't manage to fix it again, where do I stand with asking LG to fix it?

thanks for your help.

Unless you want to pay for a repair, your only option is to send it back. The SIM port is intermittent (maybe only 1 pin is losing contact), and they just turn it on, don't get a "missing SIM" error and send it back. A local shop, seeing the error when it's in your hand, will probably fix it if they're good (resolder all the pins on the port stack), but they'll charge you for it.

I don't knoe about common, though - I have an LG that's a generation older, and it never had a bad SIM port.

Check my post on the other thread. I found the sim will insert too far on the G3 we have causing no sim card reads.
