Lg G3 no turning back now...

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

UPDATE:
I have received the phone from AT&T on Tuesday and barely really testing it out tonight and tomorrow.
The phone looks to be refurbished and did not come with a back cover or battery.
Funny they said if I did not return my old phone within 10 days, they would charge me full price.
So if that happened which it won't, then shouldn't I get the back cover and battery?

Anyway I will be testing this phone out in the next days and let you all know how it goes.
Also the front camera has a hairline scratch and the laser has light scuffs.
My old phone that I am sending back has no scratches anywhere and is mint.

Sucks that the phone they send you is a refurbished unit when you pay for a new one.
So they will have these scratches on them from the previous user.
Question is, why did the previous user return the unit and now they "fix" it and give them to warranty claimers.

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

Refurb should be better than new. It goes back to the people who fix the issues versus one right off the assembly line which isn't really tested at all.

As for the blemishes, I've never had a refurb with Nicks or scratches as they are supposed to replace the casing on them. Although I get my replacements from an AT&T device repair store front since it is nearby.

So your situation is odd.

The case of the phone is not scratched but the actual lens of the camera has a hairline scratch.
The cameras laser also has light scuffs all over it.

Usually they will not catch or really repair the phones when they refurbish.

I would rather have one brand new and work properly than a refurbished one.

In that case give me a refund of half the cost I paid for a refurbished one because they sell them cheaper anyway.

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

Verizon does the refurbished too. However, never seen one with blemishes. So, what are you going to do? Keep it? Complain?

Call them up and request another one. When I got a g3 replacement it looked brand new. Still had the sticker on the volume and power buttons. But still no back etc. I would not live with that. I got several replacements through AT&T until I got one with no blemishes. They are pretty cool at helping you. I once had to go through 4 HTC ones until I got one with no scratches. But they will do it.

I will call them if it overheats like my first one.
If the scratch on the camera doesn't cause problems or the scuffs on the laser, then I guess its fine.
The phone did have all the "new" stickers on it.

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

I actually bought my G3 through Costco and bought their protection plan because I had issues with ATT with my S4. This is my first purchase outside of ATT I was a little Leary but my niece has used Costco for a few years with great results. We will see. Hope this one hold up for you

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

UPDATE:

I called AT&T just to ask if the phones are refurbished.
They told me that they are "like new".
Which means most of them just get a factory reset and most problems aren't found or fixed.
Some are refurbished, so I told her I felt ripped off because I paid 199.99 plus the 2yr contract and full tax on the original price, which I feel is illegal, but I told her if there was a rebate since they sell the refurbished G3 for 99.99
She said let me see what I can do and got me $106 off my bill.
Also the phone is still covered for the rest of the remaining year warranty period, even though its a refurbished replacement.

So if these few scratches on my replacement don't cause issues, then I am happy that I got a rebate and this phone seems to be performing better and staying cooler.

By the way all phones they send you for warranty replacement have "new stickers" on them so that doesn't make them new, but they are all returns and either checked for issues and used as replacements or they are fixed and used as replacements.

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

Discount, nice. Wasn't expecting that. Typically the new sticker things come with them because the digitizer and some body parts are new.

Battery stats of warranty replacement

My original G3 had major overheat issues with random lags and reboots. So AT&T sent me another one. So far it is working better and I am using the same battery I had before. This phone is not rooted and this is the stock 3000mah battery. I have not tested the 3850mah battery yet.
All I have done is disable anything I didn't want, I don't have any kind of battery savers running. At the time of the screen shots the battery was at 19% and I needed it charges for the next day.

Re: Battery stats of warranty replacement

What sort of screen brightness were you using?

Re: Battery stats of warranty replacement

So it looks like you're good with this one....although if it's the one with the scratch on the lens cover I'd be returning it in your position. If you keep, it will be interesting to see the stats after normal daily usage.

I think I messed up, what can happen?

Alright so I had got my warranty replacement and already sent mine back.
This issue is I just deleted all my personal stuff and then did 3-4 factory resets.
I'm pretty sure my supersu was not installed as a system app.
I forgot about this battery stats app that had to be installed as system so I rooted again and deleted it.
I did not restore all the files I removed when I debloated.
Once I reset and booted it up all was fine unless I rebooted it again, it would say something like systemui failed or something.
So my question is, is the phone still rooted somehow or what do you think will happen when they check it out.
I should have unrooted through the super user app but completely forgot.
I have heard of people sending in units that are rooted and nothing happened.
They are not repairing mine because they just sent me a replacement.
What do you think?

Yea it is the one with the scratch n scuffs but I have not tested the camera in direct sunlight yet.
The thing I will test is if the phone gets the same battery life after root.
