It depends on how far they check the device and how much they enforce their policy. On paper, if you root your device you void your warranty. Period.

But if they don't check your phone for that or just happen to have a guy check it who just doesn't care, you'll get your replacement and no harm done.

Then again, if they do... well, it's a possibility.

My guess would be that they just wipe any phone they receive in one piece, after seeing there was an issue with it. Just my guess though.

I got my replacement before I sent my defective G3.
I was worried that the phone would get lost by usps and the third party newgistics.
However today there was tracking info on the phone by newgistics. I just read horror stories.
Well from what you guys said so far, I think I'm good but anyone with input on AT&T specifically?

If you already got the replacement or if it's already on its way, I don't think you should worry.

Yea but they said that if the phone looks like it has been damaged they will charge full price for the replacement.
So it got me thinking if they somehow see it was rooted that they will charge me and send it back.
Hopefully not and everything will be fine. So far the replacement doesn't get hot.

I file claims whenever I get a bad scratch with att I've sent in a rooted phone before and nothing. All they do is purge the software and reinstall it. Theyve done it for me at the service centers

Also you've got a card up your sleeve....the replacement they sent is damaged, you mentioned scuffs and scratches etc., which they're probably not allowed to do.

Yea I think when I called again they noted it was scratched and scuffed.
 
Third times a charm....hopefully

So I got on the phone with AT&T again and had them warranty my phone.
It has lag issues and reboots when it wants to and I hate it.
This type of device should be able to handle my almost 500 apps which are mainly on my sd card.
So the "new" one should be at my door in about 6 days.
I will have to move certain things I want to keep on my sd card and start all over on the new one.
Still have warranty until 8/15 so I will have some time to test out the third one.
I really hope it works better or as it should, sucks to have to start over.
Hope it doesn't come with lollipop since I forgot to mention that to them.
Will let you guys know how it goes, she actually forgot to test the phone which they do in order to cover it under warranty.
