LG G3 screen lock pin and screen off effect gone?

I made the mistake of updating to android 6.0, and since then, when I tap the screen off/hit the power button, then wake it up, it brings the home screen right up, without having to enter the security pin. Also, there used to be a setting in "display" called "screen-off effect", and I had it set to "retro tv", but that has completely disappeared! Anyone else having this issue, and does anyone know how to fix it? On a side note, anytime I power off the phone, then power it back on, McAfee locks my device because it says its rooted, and wants me to enter my pin to unlock it. My phone isn't rooted, and I can't disable/force stop McAfee. I'm at a loss. Please help!

My LG S3 is Locked

Has anyone had this happnen... My LG S3 Updated itself yesterday Morning and Now it is Locked from Mcafee it says your device has been rooted please enter pin code.. i have tried the pin code for screen saver ive tried the PUK number nothing works.. i took it to att they seen it said it had been rooted and had me call their tier 2 level tech service who in return sent me to google who was no help at all. they tried to reset it to his original factory settings but it wont even let you turn it off. if you take the battery out and put it back in you can see my original screen saver and all but then it automatically switches to Mcafees security and ask for that pin code. it also has if you forgot you pin info i tried to have an email sent to me ive received nothing. they advised me to take it to there service center which im going to do later today on my way to work. just was seeing if anyone else has had this issue and what you have done to fix it.. for now att sold me a go phone to have a phone.. sigh..

My LG S3 is Locked

The only possible way to fix it is to re-install the Android image in your phone. There are guides in how to do it in the XDA forum. Just go to XDA and go to the LG G3 support area.

Can you put your phone into Safe Mode (Google it, how to put lg g3 into safe mode)? . If you can put it into Safe Mode, does it still happen?

I removed my battery and put it back in. It allowed me to enter the PIN and update it. Now everything seems to be running fine.

I've not had the problem with the pin but I'm also missing the screen off effect. Like you I had mine set to retro tv

Welcome to Android Central! Have you already checked the Automatically Lock option, which is probably in Settings>Display or Settings>Security? Make sure it's set to "Immediately" or some short interval, rather than 1 or 2 minutes. Also, you don't have Smart Lock turned on, do you?

It wouldn't be unusual for a manufacturer to remove a feature like the Screen Off effect with a major system update. You'd have to ask them why, but it may just have been some stylistic decision on their part.
