LG G3 Screen On Time

i have d855. i get 2.5 hours or maybe maybe 3 hours of SOT.

how did you get 4 hours?

Don't know, it just is. I'm on AT&T, though that shouldn't matter. I run the Goggle Now launcher, though I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I have 4 email accounts, some set to sync "as received" and some like once an hour. I use Viber and Line. For Facebook, I don't use the FB app, but rather use the CM Browser and simply have my FB home set as a bookmark on the screen. I do use FB Messenger some, though I always have the "active" clicked "off". I still get all chat notifications and can chat just fine.
Yesterday, when I took those two screen shots I was playing around with the brightness control set to "auto" and for about, maybe 30 mins, when I was outside, had the "auto" off and the brightness set to 100%.
Also, I got the phone, brand new, maybe a month ago now, or 6 weeks ago and it immediately updated to Lollipop as part of the initial setup, so, again, I don't know if that has anything to do with it as it never ran KK.
I have several ( 3 ) weather widgets on some of the screens also.

I've already posted here with SOT on Stock Lollipop ROM (20h)
In the meantime, I've flashed Cloudy G3 ROM (Lollipop, based on 20k), and regarding SOT, nothing really changed significantly.
Todays, result:
SOT (from 100% to 5%) - 6h 15min.
Additional info: battery lasted for 12h 30min; WiFi was on all the time; web browsing, youtube, viber, facebook, instagram, snapseed editing, no gaming; screen brightness was on auto (Lux app).
I'm ussualy getting 5+ SOT, so this was expected.

My advices for people having issues with SOT:
- SOT is pretty simple thing - smartphone screen is consuming battery, and we can't do anything to stop draining. We can be careful with screen brightness, and prevent unnecessary screen usage (lower screen timeout time).
- You may notice that my screen consumed 70% of battery power, so other components of my phone are configured optimally. I don't have any bloatware , I'm using Greenify to hibernate apps that would wake phone unnecessary, my location is off all the time...
- 100% screen brightness with heavy processor usage equals fast battery drain, and that is not connected with G3 - every other 5.5" qHD smartphone would have equally short SOT.

This kind of sucks... It all went downhill after lollipop.

I don't understand how everyone is getting crap battery...I have been getting good consistent battery life on the latest update fully stock (UK model)
(All different days of usage)

Battery life is super dependent on network signal strength, so that can definitely explain some differences between users.

Yes, and especially for those that have carrier phones (like T-Mobile, AT&T etc) on LTE. IF the LTE signal is weak the radio uses a lot of battery constantly pinging towers for better signal.
In the past, when I've had AT&T phones, I've always set my max to "3G" not LTE and my battery life has always improved.
The G3 that I have is an International (unlocked, 855) so it doesn't even support LTE bands that AT&T uses and thus isn't even trying to find a "better" LTE signal or even use an LTE band at all.
LTE radios most certainly consume more power, especially if the signal is not particularly strong.

In the end, I just get frustrated because I read posts of folks getting great times and no matter what I do, I get 10-12 hours of total time on average, with SOT of 1 hour 45 mins to 2 hours and 15 mins. Never have that much on time so I don't understand why I don't get longer battery times. There are spots where the signal isn't great, but at work and home strong LTE signals. There are some stores that I go in that have no signal. I was in the store today for 50 minutes and lost 14% on battery. Clearly battery eaten up by searching, but why so much with the screen off? Ugh. Looked at possibly going to S6 edge, but some report bad battery there and I don't know if I can stomach 800+ dollars for a Samsung. Maybe I'll go to the G4. Or, get a flip phone. Thanks for all the comments.

Because even with the screen off, the radio is constantly pinging for a tower (signal).
LTE on all phones, take a lot more power than 3G, which is why, when I've had AT&T branded phones in the past, I"ve always turned off LTE.
Don't need it at all. HSPA+ (on AT&T where I'm at), depending on where I am in town, I get 10 ~ 13 mps. That's faster than my home Wifi connection and more than enough speed for me.

If for some reason you "must" have LTE speeds and you run out of battery before you can recharge, then simply get a spare battery to carry with you. Simple as.....

Well am hoping I have a faulty phone or battery. sending it back for a warranty repair as I have a yellow screen burn on right side. I also mentioned my sot was just 2.5 hrs and phone got hot and laggy.

Anyway moved my sim back to my old Sony z1. Reloaded all apps and it updated to lollipop.

I got over 4 hrs sot on auto brightness will Google / location / all push left on which I had to turn off on My g3 to try to save battery.

Love the camera and screen on my g3 but if LG don't fix the battery consumption for me then I am am afraid I will be hanging onto my Sony for now.

You either have a dud or mis-configured Android.

Well hopefully when they send out a new one it will be OK.

I factory reset after lollipop and loaded my usual apps and the sot was very poor. It also got hot which I imagine is what caused the yellow screen burn although I never got a temperature warning.
