LG G3 Screen Rotation Problems

Just did the same thing. Smacked it a bunch of times and it started rotating again. THANKS!

Got the phone not quite a week ago, and as of today the screen will not rotate. I haven't dropped it, nothing has been changed. The roto option is selected, and I did a factory hard reset to no avail. I'm going to bring it back and have it replaced, unless anyone here has had this problem and knows a solution? Thanks!
EDIT: The phone is on Verizon, if that helps.

I am now on my 4th lg3!!! Twice my phone stopped rotating. It would rotate the opposite way then get stuck. They keep sending me a refurbished phone, then 2 months later the same problem happens! Love the lg3, but I am getting a bit tired of replacing my phone with another used one every couple of months!

LMAO. Amazing. Thought for sure my phone was broken until I tired your unorthdox method of redropping the phone to jar loose the stuck sensor and...sure enough it worked. I dropped it on a thin bathroom floor mat about 3 feet high in attempts to resolve and BOOM...fixed. Thanks for the weird advise ;-). Cheers.

THANK YOU! Worked for me!
Just goto setting....display...check auto rotate. And another one is goto setting ....general....gesture....motion sensor calibration....note! Flip your phone downward on a flat surface before CLICKING calibrate.......

Hi there, I was facing the same problem on my G3 yesterday after let it fall at office. The Y axis was stuck ! So my phone won't rotate. What I did was simply amazing! I let it fall again and it works again! It seems that acelerometer sensor got stuck. I hop can help someone with this problem. I suggest testing acelerometer with a app called Advanced tools free on play store. with this you can see if some axis is stuck it non working. I tried it all and nothing seems to works except let it fall from the height of my hip on a carpet and that solved the problem! You can use this method as a last resort. But be careful from breaking the phone.

I can't believe that worked. I got scared after reading post #9, because my auto-call answering feature from the light sensor wasn't working, either. I guess dropping my phone isn't always a bad thing!

Thanks!!!
I was in the same situation, the X axis stuck in -19 m/s2. So I hit the phone on the left side three times increasing the force until it start responding.
Excellent!

Auto rotate was stuck, none of the settings made it work, read this and dropped my phone (on my desk, 6/8" drop. Works perfectly. Thank you genius human. Seriously.

SUCCESS!
After many failed attempts of
-soft reboot
-safe mode
-hard reset
-dropping onto a carpet

I finally downloaded cpu z, noticed my sensors would react slightly to my rotations then immediately reset to 0. the sensors were stuck but dropping it onto a carpet was going too easy on my sensors. after a few hard knocks with my knuckles on the back of the phone near the camera the phone quickly rotated back and everything was working great!
