LG G3: Verizon

Took me from 7:45pm leaving Verizon store until 2:00am to kill the battery down to 4% from 44%. I did about 900mb of WiFi downloading, 50% manual brightness, installed a bunch of apps (and deleted all the bloat), customized settings, played the preloaded videos a few times, and doing this...

Nice man! Let us know how the rooting experience works out for you. I tend to root my devices toward the end of my time with it when I'm just about ready to upgrade. I've been realizing more and more that rooting for me has become less and less necessary. Android has matured a lot since the early days! It pretty much now offers me everything that I used to root my device for. I just wish we were allowed to remove whatever bloat carriers put in these devices from stock, thats about it!

It's working as expected so far. I also recognize the advances Android has made, although they're not quite there yet.

I require root for three essential things:
Titanium Backup
Root Uninstall
[redacted]

The other benefits of root are nice, too. But not essential. It's too bad only T-Mobile G3's are the only ones with unlocked bootloaders. Oh, well... Perhaps someone will crack that so I can play with custom roms.

Wouldn't put much faith in that report. Looks like a spread sheet made up. There is no 2tb SD cards 🎴

Believe in that report now?

By the way, any words on the LG WCD-100 wireless charger? Can not find it in verizon's online store.

That's a lie. They just don't want to take a hit on it. Call up customer service tell them they refused to sell it to you and to go to best buy. Go back to that store and buy it.

I picked up a LG3 at Verizon in Panama City, FL yesterday. Told employee I was paying full price, no questions asked.

What did use to root it? What is [redacted]?

My VZW reps were really nice when I came in and asked for options I have to keep my UDP. They went through every option imaginable and even suggested that I should go look at used phones (even suggesting other stores) so that I don't have to pay full price for my phone.

Got mine yesterday. I think I actually like the full black on the front better than the grey but I am glad they kept the mettaloc grey on the rear. From the pics on the site I was worried it was going to be a jet black battery door.

I agree that the full black front is better looking.

Apparently, some corporate store managers are telling employees to say this now. I started hearing it more in the past year, when I tried to purchase the G2 and the S5 full retail. They told me it's store policy (for at least the first two weeks or so - of a new release), but based on these forums, it appears it's not a corporate policy since it appears to be hit or miss. I guess with limited supply, they want to ensure they have enough stock for the new biz (and commissions), but it sucks for us unlimited folks!

This is one of the reasons I'm thinking of just buying off of Swappa...so I wouldn't have to deal with it

I wonder on top of the unlimited data, if they would give me a hard time and try to get me to pay an ETF fee since I'm only 6 months into my contract

Just a heads up IOroot doesn't install any superuser app. So you won't get prompted to allow or deny. any app that wants permission gets it. I downloaded supersu and updated binaries and all is well

spoke with cust serv via twitter last night. They confirmed that a purc at full retail will not alter my unlimited contract.

went back to store today. They still tried to tell me that I'd lose unlimited. Adv them that I spk to cust serv and they told me otherwise. They hemmed and hawed and acted completely surprised that full retail didn't alter my contract.

Anyway, now fooling around w my new g3 with unlimited data.

ThJust traded in my AT&T version (which I used for a week) for Verizon's.

I find it very odd that even if I'm on Wi-Fi, the 4G icon still shows up in the notification bar....any way to turn that off? AT&T's version didn't do that.

Any other phone I've owned has only shown one or the other, depending if I was on Wi-Fi or mobile data. I find it distracting to see the 4G icon even if I'm not using it.

Also, why do I see the LG apps (such as LG Health) installed in the settings -> apps section but not in the app drawer? Did Verizon get rid of this?

It's normal. As long as the icon goes dark.. It's dormant. The newer phones are starting to do this. When I tried the M8 on Verizon it did this as well.
