LG G3: Verizon

Nope, I disabled it (as much as you can without rooting). I'm not really sure what the deal is, haha, but I guess as long as it isn't actually using data it's fine. I am just not used to seeing it and always revert back to assuming I'm using it instead of wifi, as it was on my old phone.

Ah okay. Yeah you should be good.. Should only be used for MMS :)... WiFi for everything else.

Went to visit my local Coscto today to see if they got the G3 in stock. Anyway, the clerk at the kiosk didn't know exactly when they would be getting them in..but he did receive the dummy demo unit. He let me check it out. He told me usually stock follows soon after they receive the demo unit. All I can do now is wait. Looks like Costco will be getting a nice metallic dark grey color that I haven't seen yet based on the dummy demo unit he received.

When my Coscto gets stock in, I'll post the deal Costco is having on them. Can't wait to upgrade and ditch my Droid Bionic.

I was kind of sour on LG since my first experience with them on Verizon was the LG Spectrum and I felt a bit jilted after discovering that there was no option to keep the phone from wasting battery searching for wifi - the G3 doesn't do this. Does the GPS work properly? Should I get this or wait for the Note 4?

I had some GPS speed issues with my G2, but the GPS works perfect on my G3.

Went to Verizon today to purchase the G3 but they told me they discontinued my 4GB plan and would have to switch to a 2GB plan or a more everything plan. I would rather not split data with the rest of my family and I wouldn't even save money. May switch to Tmobile to get the G3

have another question about swappa.

I've seen comments for some of the sales saying they want the phone activated so when they get it it won't screw with their UDP

why would that happen?

No idea what they are asking. Swappa's simple. Just buy a device, stick in your SIM card and away you go. No activation required. I've bought and sold several devices on Swappa this year.

I believe that extra 2 GB is only for 2 years though and then you're back to the normal 2 GB.

I liked the style and design of the phone. Coming from a Samsung Gnex (yes the one from 2011), I went to VZN to check out the G3. Loved it. But FoxFi works out of the box on the S5 which I use in my studio as my primary source of internet for around 30-60gigs of data per month. So at the moment I went ahead with the S5 for the WiFi tether. Works great. In a few months maybe I'll take a look back at the G3 and consider switching.

I paid $560 on Swappa.com for a NIB LG G3 yesterday.
It had only been activated for the other person not to have issues. I even got a copy of the receipt in case I run into warranty issues.

Yeah after doing some research I have seen countless people that have been able to keep their 4 GB plan. So I plan on going in their today and figuring it out. If not TMobilr here I come

My personal opinion? You need to pony up the extra $30 per month for the hotspot. FoxFi is great for those who only need a hotspot every now and then, but your abusing the system and costing everyone else. It's FoxFi and other rooted tethering users that pushed all the cellphone companies to switch to this tethered plan crap and do away with our unlimited data.

Like I said, my opinion. Feel free to slam me now, but you need to pay the monthly charge! I'm paying $30 per month for 2 devices and I'm around 40-50GBs per month.

Don't know if you Verizon folk are aware but I believe they upped the brightness for the Verizon variants. I'm quite jealous actually! My brother came over with his new G3 (thanks to me! :D) last night after work and when I put his screen on 60% like mine, I instantly noticed that it was brighter than mine. I put my Sprint G3 right next to his and yup, I was right. I'm not sure if its perhaps a setting that makes mine dimmer or his higher at the same percentage but its there. Anyone else notice this??

60% with Auto toggled is going to look different than 60% with Auto off. This might be the difference you're seeing?

Quite possibly! I'll have to find out if this is the case from my brother later today. This actually makes me feel better about my device now, lolol!!

It should be. I don't see carriers altering this setting. They're more interested in disabling features to sell you later.

I am surprised that Verizon didn't disable the built-in GPS so that you had to pay for VZ Navigator, which is $4.99/month.

So he just texted me back that he has it off. I do remember last night when I was going through it seeing it turned on and I turned it off. Perhaps it took awhile for it to adjust?! or perhaps I have a dimly lit screen or he has a brighter than normal screen. I guess I'll let you all know later in the week when I visit him and my lovely niece and do side by side comparos again.

I saw a video online showing how to tweet the brightness/contrast somewhat in the accessibility settingr
