LG G4 4G LTE LG-H815 32GB - does box come SEALED?

Hi!

I purchased an LG G4 from Hong Kong. When I received it, the box had NO seal or heat shrink around the outside of the box. The phone has minor cosmetic damage. The seller is trying to say the box doesn't come sealed, there evidence simply being a link to a youtube clip that shows an "unboxing" - so not real convincing!

So can anyone shed some light on this please?

If I recall right from my own experience, some phone boxes come shrink-wrapped, others are just sealed with a tab.

Is there a reason why LG distribute like this?

The one I received had no heat shrink or anything.

Is this "tab" a sticker which seals the box closed?

Yes, a sticky tab that seals the box, though I can't recall now whether LG uses that method. LG Support may be able to advise if you're in any doubt about whether you were sold the device in the proper way. The 'minor cosmetic damage' that you refer to suggests that that may be cause for concern, unless perhaps the seller stated it upfront so that potential buyers were aware of it.

My Sprint G4 from best buy came sealed with sticky tabs on both ends. If the phone is brand new, there should always be something, even as minimal as a sticky tab, to make sure the box stays closed and provide some proof that it was tampered with if it isn't closed. Not sealed = not new IMO.

Thanks - that basicly confirms my suspicion.

I purchased my phone from EGlobalDigitalCameras.com and have regretted every moment since. Have been a nightmare to deal with. They seem to be posting fake templated reviews on productreview.com as well.

I got my VZ G4 from Amazon. No shrink wrap or sticky tabs at all on it. Checking settings>hardware info, it showed zero uptime on it when I first turned it on.

LG Global just confirmed - LG G4 comes either shrink wrapped or tab sealed.

They suggested only purchasing with either of those two being evident.

I purchased my H815 through amazon - if I recall correctly it wasn't shrink-wrapped but it definitely had multiple (unbroken) seals around the box. I'd say send it straight back and get a refund.

I bought LG G3's and LG G4's from both Best Buy and Verizon Wireless corporate stores and it was never sealed, had no stickers either as there is just a cardboard sleeve that goes on top and you can open the box of the phone.

LG Global answered the question - as posted.

My previous phone was the LG G3 purchased from a popular local retailer, came sealed, like every phone I have ever purchased in the past.

Maybe carrier branded phones are different. None of the smartphones I've bought from Verizon Wireless since 2009 had been sealed and this includes 2 Motorola's, 2 LG G3's and 2 LG G4's. Same with LG G3's and LG G4's from Best Buy, Bestbuy.com and Target. These all have a outer sleeve. and once you take off the sleeve, you just open the box, as the stores even show you the phone before you buy it. So it might just be global phones. Same thing as what's shown in the G3 and G4 videos below.

Hi,
i also had a phone with a sticker, but also with a glue from the previous sticker that had been removed.
Also i see 2 different Manufacturer Part Numbers on the phone. One is printed on the original box, and the other is covered with a sticker, the sticker containing the S/N and IMEI numbers.
Can a phone box have 2 differrent Manufacturer Part Numbers on it?
Also a circular shaped glue mark can be seen on the front side of the box. Can it be refurbished or something?

Almighty1,

LG Global has answered the question. UNSEALED = USED

I find it interesting that you link too Youtube clips, just like the dodgy retailer did.

There are 2 main issues with my phone box. One is the broken seal. And the other is the several Manufacturer Part Numbers.

About the broken seal, there are two different views. Some say it's possible that the retailer may have opened and checked the phone. And others say: if the seal is broken, it means the phone is probably used and returned. So there is a %50-%50 chance. (Which is a good chance, therefore I will most probably return the phone)

But, I still wonder whether a phone box can have 2 differrent Manufacturer Part Numbers on it or not?
(One is printed on the back side of the box; and the other is on the bottom side and it's covered with the sticker containing the S/N and IMEI numbers.)

LG Global doesn't really have the correct answers to everything as remember it depends on distribution and a majority of the time, they are clueless as has been the case with their OLED TV's since LG Global or anyone you talk to on the phone do not have physical experience with the product's packaging other than reading what the computer says.

The unbranded devices may be that way because it doesn't come with a sim already installed. If you checked xda-developers where I think you or someone else asked this question, both AT&T and Verizon do not have the seal. Sprint and T-Mobile does. Also, noticed another thing is the Verizon Wireless version atleast has a sleeve over the box, the ones with the stickers do not have the sleeve which is actually the carrier's packaging. So I think the answer is really, it depends... Maybe only the H815 models have the seal while the H810 and the VS models don't have the seal. AT&T doesn't have the sleeve from what I saw on xda.

Mine was sealed. Got it from a carrier here in Singapore.

I am sure it depends on the carrier, is yours carrier branded though as far as the software and packaging goes and did it actually already have a sim installed? Someone mentioned that some G4's come with headphones which does not come from the factory that way and usually is packaged by the store. We don't have headphones in the Verizon version.
