Hello all,
I've had my G4 since Thursday 06/04 and I've been experiencing terrible signal problems, both with data and cell, this is with my original Sim card and then with a new Sim card I picked up from AT&T on Sunday. Data signal keeps going to "E" edge, and my cell signal is terrible, after a couple of missed calls, I looked and the cell icon was no bars and the spinning wheel looking for a signal. I put my Sim card back in my Optimus G Pro and it was 3 bars solid and LTE solid. I experimented with this over 2 days making sure to give it a few hours each time and in the same exact location. Tried it at work, and at home, same results. The people at the AT&T store don't have any suggestions or answers. Is anyone getting worst reception with the G4 than your other phone(s)? I really am debating on keeping the phone because I know I'm stuck with it after the 14 days are up.

P.S. Buy the way, Yes I have already did a factory reset and only added a few apps, none which involve the phone radios or software

I think you have a bad radio.....but would love to hear others compare dBm with other phones.

I have the GS6 and switched to the G4 on Friday its night and day in signal/data quality with the G4 out performing the GS6 by a lot! So you might have a bad antenna! Anyways just my two cents lol. Hope it gets fixed for you.

Definitely sounds like bad hardware and on top of that there haven't been widespread complaints about reception quality. I would exchange it for a new one.

Went To AT&T and got an exchange phone, seems better now, BUT They would only activate it with the micro SIM that came with the phone, I asked them to please activate it with the nano sim I had so I can swap between the G4 and my Nexus 6, They told me I CAN"T have a nano SIM card because it won't work in the G4, I explained to them I have an adapter, and that I have been using the nano card between phones for the past year and a half, they said it can't be done!!! :-\ I left the store aggravated and went home and called customer service.......Same story, "Were sorry you can not use a nano SIM card with the LG G4" AGAIN, I explained the whole story that I've been doing this on several phones for the past 18 months!!!! :( Then they told me if that is what I want to do I HAVE TO ADD ANOTHER LINE OF SERVICE TO MY ACCOUNT!!! I told her " no Problem, I will be returning the G4 and to take it off my line of service. When did AT&T start this crap of only allowing one phone to be used on a sim card?????

I'm not sure it's a one Sim per phone issue as it is a correct Sim per phone issue they are enforcing.

I swapped my AT&T Sim from my G3 to my G4 but they are the same size. Sorry to hear, maybe try another store?

Just a bit of info as i have a S6E which uses Nano sim, (thus my sim is nano) had it before i received my G4 and low and behold the Nano does indeed work very well in my G4 without the need for an adaptor 😀

I had a nano sim and adapter, which I have been using in a few phones that use a micro sim, they deactivated my nano sim when I activated my G4, all I wanted was a nano sim card attached to my phone number, didn't ask for 2 active Sim cards. Never had this problem before, have been using a Moto X, Moto X 2014, Nexus 6 and a few phones that all have MICRO sim card slots with an adapter, never been a problem before.

These exact poor signal and connectivity issues plagued the AT&T G3, and it looks like this uglyness has returned for the AT&T G4. I had absolutely horrible experiences when I had my AT&T G3 - I would have Edge or no service where other AT&T devices had multiple bars of LTE, and this happened on a regular basis. I would stay away from the AT&T model of the G4.

The AT&T G4? Hmmm.
Might have to go to the store to test this out.

Poor reception performance on an AT&T LG device seems all too familiar....

I have the G4 (AT&T) and excellent coverage/bars, etc. In fact, here AT&T only has 4G, no problem. Verizon "was" suppose to have 4G LTE. I actually have better speed and coverage with AT&T 4G. Then again I was using a droid turbo on Verizon 4G LTE. That phone was nothing but problems along with Verizon decreasing service.

As with any carrier.. Depends on the area :).

Just checked, and I'm getting one bar in my house, where my ATT m7 used to have 3-4. With that said, I have not had significant signal issues ten days in, including a road trip where I consistently had more bars than my passenger's iphone 6 on Verizon. I did have one instance of a bad connection at work last week, but I didn't really think anything of it. Maybe I'll watch a bit more closely these next few days.

Hopefully this won't turn into a carrier signal thread. As we a should know by now, it complete depends on the area. One person's town my have great AT&T coverage while another's has very little. And don't believe the coverage maps; those are just for funsies.

For those interested in how G4 performs in terms of reception might want to look at the comparison on Android authority: "Best for 4G: Galaxy S6 v Huawei P8 v LG G4" (sorry I can't post the link)

I'm now personally considering switching to a g4 from a Galaxy s6.
