LG G4 H815 Android Marshmallow update rollout and initial impressions

how did you manage to get the 6.0??
I also have a european unit, from germany to be specific, and i used lg bridge to check for updates, said im on the latest version......which for my phone is 5.1... Any way to manually install 6.0?

Same. Around 2.5 hours screen-on with M, compared to over 5 hours with L. Doze doesn't work on mine either it looks like as I've yet so see anything even resembling a flat line no matter how long I leave the phone down for.

Where do I find the Doze feature?

It's supposed to be just there already as there's no actual way to turn it on or off (bar turning off individual apps from the optimising part of the battery menu), but between three devices on 6.0 I've used I've never seen anything less than 15% overnight drain.

My german G4 wasn't getting the update either.
So I went over to XDA, got LGUP, downloaded the official kdz file they have available there, and simply used LGUP to upgrade. It's an official upgrade and it's as simple as it gets.

Go here [STOCK][Latest!] H815 20B Images + KDZ + Fla… | LG G4 and you'll find all the necessary info and files ;)

Lots of folks with bad experience so far on MM with this stock rom flash from what I'm reading in there. Looks like you also need root to flash it. As much as I want and would like to have MM I'm going to give it some time since my G4 is working very well on 5.1.

FWIW, my Marshmallow experience is excellent. No connectivity problems with either Wifi or Bluetooth, and battery life is significantly improved over Lollipop. I suspect this is partly down to less CPU/GPU overhead when rendering the UI (hence why the UI feels smoother in general) and partly due to optimization of background processes and standby (including doze mode). I upgraded when it was offered to me via LG Bridge.

I understand the frustration of those who want the update but aren't getting it *right now* from LG. Staged rollouts are quite common, Google is doing exactly the same with its updates of Nexus devices. For example, the Marshmallow OTAs for the Nexus 7 2013 have just begun to roll out, going from 5.1.1 straight to 6.0.1, even though the 6.0 factory images were posted over a month ago. The rollout for MM on the G4 is based on your phone's IMEI, not where you bought it. It's unfortunate that there's no transparency to the process.. it would be nice if LG would tell its customers, «We started rolling out MM to the H815 on 25 November, and here is when we expect the rollout to be complete. And here are similar schedules for other variants of the G4.» That way folks would at least have a rough idea how long this is supposed to take. In the absence of that, you'll either have to wait until it shows up in LG Bridge or use LGUP and flash it yourself.

I cannot get LG Bridge to run. It hangs at a point when I select Software Update, it says that I have no network access. That makes no sense. I installed the software on a Windows 7 Pro system. The back up function is working in LG Bridge by the way.

I would love to install Marshmallow on my LG G4 H815. Any pointers? Thanks!

As above I found that my BT Home hub didn't play nice with LG Bridge until I logged onto router and turned off "BT Smart setup" .
With it on I was getting "No network available" even though I had Internet access!

Download worked fine but overheating a bit more than usual playing games and battery not as good but I may just be using it more!

1 - No, you don't need root.
2 - This is the official version that LG is pushing out. It's not "this stock ROM". It's the official one ;)
3 - I haven't had a single problem with it.
My phone is also not rooted, the bootloader isn't unlocked and I never tempered with it. Folks encountering problems are generally people who had done those things to their phones. Therefore, they'd be facing problems even with the OTA update. But that's something you should accept and deal with it the moment you decide to mess with what LG gave you ;)

That said, of course it's up to you to wait or not.

Yes, that's correct. I've not rooted mine

(it would invalidate the warranty)

When it's available, decide for yourself if you'd want to download it.

Thanks for the clarification!

I'm a g4 user and i know that every update on the Lolipop for G$ does not fix the issue when long pressing on the home page for adding widget , can i know is it fixed now on Marshmallow?

I should have waited before updating my battery life has gotten worse on MM along with the phone getting hot.

It gets really warm once i start using it which wasted the case on LP. I have done a factory reset already am not sure another one will help.

Try rebooting into safe mode (runs only system apps) and see if your phone is still getting warm. Might be one of your downloaded apps. Also try wiping the cache.

Anyone got it ota in UK? I don't have a PC anymore, just phone, tablet and Chromebook.

As far as I know, MM has only been made available over LG Bridge so far, even in test markets like Poland and Korea - no OTAs so far at all, anywhere. Congrats on going PC-less btw.. lots of folks are cord-cutters and cord-nevers, but not that many are PC-less yet. :D

Hello, I have got this update but problem is that when I download, it doesn't install. just give me an error that can not install this update. Also give me suggestion that remove battery then insert again and start your phone. After connecting usb port try again. Can you guide me please ? Thank you in advance. :)
