LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of it?

First 3 digits of the SN please?

They are both 505, of course. I can't believe they don't have an official recall, no matter how widespread they should be able to identify all affected devices and offer expedited warranty fixes.

When I sent mine in it took two weeks. 😢

Of course your carrier will give her a refurbished 505 oe 506  I think LG is making a mistake treating customers this way.

My phone is doing the same thing! I don't know what to do, I don't have a memory card so I'm scared that if I just go get a new phone I could use photos, videos, and my contacts. Did you try something to your phone? Did anything work? Please let me know.

My phone did this to me Sunday night right around the 6 month mark (which seems to be the magic number). Since, I've been trying the suggestions here to retrieve my information. No such luck. I called Verizon and LG about getting the issue fixed, but because there's a small surface crack on the screen that happened a week after I got by merely looking at it wrong (have had problems with this phone from the start, Verizon wouldn't help me when I came back after the first week complaining about it) they won't touch it without charging me because the 'damage' has voided the warranty. My issue is that it's clear what the problem is, they sold me the phone in October after this issue had already become fairly well known, and the crack has nothing to do with it. Anyone have suggestions, success stories, secret code words that might work in my favor?
Thanks!

How about "Known Issue"? LG has admitted there is a known defect with certain G4s, and a cracked screen is irrelevant.

Agreed, 'known issue' should be enough. But they don't see it that way. I'm prepared to fight due to the principle of the matter, but really... how much time is this phone really worth? Answer: Not a lot.

Here is a link the the article in Android Authority which contains a quote from LG saying they would repair all devices with this problem.
LG admits G4 bootloop problem is a hardware fault, will repair affected devices - Android Authority

I would go to store where you bought the phone if nearby (if not any Verizon store). If salesperson can't or wont help then go to manager. If he won't help then go up the chain of command until you get someone who can help. I have found that talking to people in person is better than some customer service person who's job is to talk on phone all day.

All the thumbs up! Do this.

Great advice! Printing the article out now. I've been to the store twice this week already (on top of so many more since buying the phone). Fortunately it's minutes from my house, unfortunately they are all new faces each visit so I have to start from the beginning each time.
Will let you know how it goes!

Great! hope it works out for you. My local store has "large" turnover also, seems like all new people each visit. I have not had this problem yet, but my phone has 505 serial no. & bought in Aug.

The problem with that article and everywhere else is they say LG had admitted the issue, etc. But until LG comes out and says "here is the issue and here is how you can get it fixed" everyone is on their own dealing with LG on the issue. You have to send your phone in for repair and they could say the problem is caused by something you did (like the cracked screen) or something else entirely. We are at their whim.

Carriers may be nice and process a return for you if you are a good enough customer and/or make a big stink, but LG has NOT gone to carriers and authorized them to process exchanges (or even warranty service) for this issue.

No such luck. Guy's advice at the Verizon store was to buy a phone off eBay and cut my loses. This whole situation is so frustrating and I feel like it was doomed from the beginning (since the phone never worked right). Steering clear of LG from now on, though I'm not sure I'm finished fighting. I learned early on to ask until you get the answer you want.

I totally know that I'm at a disadvantage and that chances are *if* I send in my phone they'll claim the defect is due to the 'damage' on the phone so I'll have to pay. It's just all so disgusting how they can have such disregard for their customers.
And I was told LG would be able to tell I got the screen replaced, which would also void the warranty.

Yeah it stinks. It's like Ford saying your power train warranty is void because you got a flat tire.

Noticed the phone was getting hot lately. Thought it was battery issue and was planning on getting a new one. Last night it suddenly froze during a YouTube Video. Bootloop.

I can confirm it did reboot after the freezer trick but not for long.

what do u recommend for the quickest way to save files (mainly pics)? Imagining I have no 3rd party apps installed.

Also I live slightly outside of the US and bought the phone unlocked at *big store in NYC*. What solutions do I have to get it fixed? Is LG taking them?
Cheers everyone!

After I upgraded to MM my phone was randomly getting very hot, and battery rapidly consumed. All apps were downloaded. Eventually things got sorted out - by factory restore and removing apps. So hot battery not always an indication that the phone is (min is a 505) is going bad.

On XDA threads I didn't see hot battery as an early indicator that failure was about to happen.

I've joined the club of boot loop. It's a 508 phone. This is my second time with this issue. Last one as a 6month old phone. Looks like I'm going to go beg for a new phone.

If you get a new phone it will more than likely run into the issue again. I would suggest sending your current phone to LG and having it fixed instead.

Can you explain why you believe that? I think the odds are in your favor that the replacement will be OK. We only hear about the ones that go bad.

You put it in the freezer, battery installed. After sitting 15-20 min, turn it on. Depending on how bad the problem is, you may be able to remove it during the backup process. Many have had to leave the phone in the freezer during the backup. I wouldn't worry a ton about condensation being a problem. There's a chance it could short something out, but I've yet to hear of it happening.

Hey! so i own a G4 505 as well and i'm stuck with the same problem more or less. my phone initially just stopped working out of the blue. At first the phone would get at the start screen with the lg logo but now that's not even there. Its completely gone! Plus my phone is not under warranty.
My photos and other documents are on it and i had not put in my sd card thinking that it has ample space but i clearly shouldn't have done that.
Will putting in the freezer do any good?
