LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of it?

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

thought i'd add my name to the list. mine got stuck on stupid sunday night. it goes to the LG logo screen twice usually. If i leave teh battery out for an extended period of time (10 min or more) it will start the verizon check mark and then stop. i emailed LG and they are supposed to be sending me a box to send to them, but if it will really take as long as they claim i may just head to a vzw brick and mortar in hopes that they get me a new one sooner.

You could try downloading LG Bridge, goto Software Update Tab.. bottom right hand corner, Fix errors... which re-installs your default OS for your acrrier>

This happened to me today during a call. I tried to use tools to restore firmware but the phone wont stay on long enough for that to happen

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

the problem with that is the phone will not stay on long enough

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot

Same thing happened to me this past weekend. Just got done setting up my new G4. T-Mobile sent me a new one after I could not recover the old one. I feel like I read somewhere that G4's manufactured after August
don't have this problem. Kinda sucks though. After three LG phones, this is the first problem I've had.

Well to supplement my issues. Ive tried two batteries. Best response I could ever get from the phone was plugging it in via USB, then popping in the battery and it would actually LG Splash screen for a bit but then thats it. Without the battery i would get the Battery "?" issue constantly. I got my replacement from VZW but its just so weird as to why this would happen all of a sudden. I had 2 batteries and I tried both batteries fully charged. After I tried one battery and I put it back in the LG Charger it would act as if it wasnt charged. It took about 20 minutes for it charge back to full.

So got my replacement phone and restored my stuff back to the way I had it before. I did try the other battery after 1/2 a day of usage, no issues between both batteries. I almost wish that there is a Jigkick device available but who knows if that would even work.

I'd like to know why this happened all of a sudden. The spooky thing about this is they somehow revive my old phone , my data is on it. I sent the google bullet in the hopes that if they attach it to the network it would self-destruct. I'll never know....

Good thing about this replacement phone is it had the VS98611A update on it which allowed me to root it rather quickly.

My phone was a pre-order from VZW direct when the phone came out. I activated my phone on 6/4/15. A bit odd that it would die just barely over the 6 month mark.

I have an otterbox on mine so yeah i dropped it a few times, no biggy but this one was pure software meltdown. Hard to say if there is an actual defect, but if there was I'd like to know about it.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

Just happened to me last night.

T-Mobile said that due to manufacture's warranty - replacement unit will be shipped to me.

I was assuming my Jump plan would offer a replacement immediately but I guess not.

Also there was a 5 dollar charge for my trouble SMH....

Oh yeah my phone was purchased the 1st week it came out and was in flawless condition.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

throwing my phone in the ring...got my phone the first week in July from sprint. The kicker is that it decided to do this on the last leg of my 4 hour drive! unbelievable.

Just to add, it was acting a little funky a few days ago....the top left corner would not respond to touch and would only work after being calibrated or restarted.

Guys.

If your phone fails to boot and is repeatedly bootlooping, your device has struck the now-infamous bootloop issues. It affects batches made before September 2015.

According to LG, the issue is with the motherboard. Which means this isn't a user-serviceable thing unless you like to tinker with your device's hardware.

The only solution is to take it back to either LG or the store where you purchased the device from. As this is a widespread issue, LG or the store should replace it under warranty.

If your phone has its serial # starting with #505 up to #508, and it hasn't bootlooped yet, back up all your data now.

It's a no-brainer, but the repair/replacement will cause you to lose all data. So make sure everything is backed up.

I'm not saying all G4s in those batches are affected, but given that all affected models have these S/N in common, it's best to be prepared.

Mine begins with 505. No problems so far. I have Squaretrade also.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

Mine begins with 506, and no real problems (knocking on wood), just little crap. Like Tardus, I'm thanking myself for getting the Squaretrade warranty just in case.

Agreed. It seems as more time passes the rate of failure is increasing. If it hasn't happened to you yet it will. Be prepared.

Why not just contact LG warranty directly? They are not going to charge you $20.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot

The T-Mobile employee at my store said they do wipe devices. I took him at his word. I did get a chuckle when I thought about T-Mobile employee's huddled around a phone looking a pictures before they wipe it.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

The Verizon employee I spoke with mentioned that they also wipe devices that are sent in after being replaced. However, if they also cannot power on the phone, they won't be able to wipe it. I asked some more questions and they said that if a phone does not work at all they sell it to a third party company to use as parts. If you think about it, considering they could not power on the phone to wipe it, your data is going to that third party too. All it takes is for some other person/company to get the phone up and running (maybe swapping the motherboard) and they'd have access to anything on it. Coming from a security background, there is only one person I trust to properly wipe my phones and that's me. In this case we almost have no choice but it still sucks.

Phones are not sent to Verizon at all nor are they sent by Verizon. They all go to Newbreed Logistics and then it goes to the manufacturers to fix, same thing as when you buy from verizonwireless.com for accessories. Verizon Wireless will provide replacements within 12 months of manufacturer date or purchase date if you purchase it for free regardless how you got it or where you bought it. After 12 months, unless you have Total Equipment Coverage or Extended Warranty, they will not cover it. TEC provides lifetime replacements of the same or comparable model and there are no fees or deductibles involved.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

Serial # 505 phone has just sent me an invite to this party also.
