LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of it?

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

I have had 2 LG4's do this also I bought in Sept 2015. completely stuck on front screen. Tried calling LG and bringing in the phone to several places. no one can help. now i have to replace and will lose all my pictures. so sad. LG told me to send the phone and and they will fix and resend, but they clean the phone out first so I will lose all and it would take 9 days. i told them I did not do anything for it to stop working and that 9 days is unacceptable for their error because i use it for my home business. They didn't care and could not give me a loaner or anything. THAT IS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER LG.

I think it is the same with any other phone manufacturers except Apple. I had sent back Samsung and HTC phones before and both are pretty much the same. It could take up to 2 weeks and they will wipe your phone. The first thing they will do is a factory reset that wipes your phone to see if that will fix the problem.. (unless your problem is a cracked screen or something). It is actually the same with any laptop computer too.. again except for Apple.

Apple is really really good at replacing bad units if you live near an Apple store.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

My LG G4 just went into boot loop last night. Left it on the counter after going into my Facebook account. When I went back to use it again, the phone was dead. Tried to restart it but suddenly found myself stuck in the boot loop. Upon seeing it, I felt frustrated already. Same thing did happen to the LG G3 I had before. Guess I never learned my lesson with LG phones. I had the S/N 506 one and got it last July. Running into 6 months of usage so I would say the theory about 6 months of usage and this problem arises is true. My carrier is Verizon and the phone is under warranty. Don't know though if it's still covered because I had dropped it when it was a week old and made a dent on the bottom right corner. A very tiny chip on the right bottom corner of the screen and dented metal. There was no effect on the phone function even with the fall but until last night. Will contact Verizon this week and see how it goes. I feel bad because I had data stored in my internal memory and had not been backed up (Yes, silly me!). No more LG phone for me for sure.

Wish I knew about this... Sigh... Too late for me now..

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

I got into a boot loop everytime I reboot the VS986 G4 the past few weeks. What I did was hold down volume down and power until it rebooted, then powered off, hold down volume down and power and then wipe cache and rebooted and all is well again.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot

This happened to me Jan 15th. Took it to t-mobile and they ordered me a replacement that got here this past Monday. Sucked I had to go the weekend without my phone but I am glad I have a new one

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot

I received my "like new" replacement G4 last Friday. My original had been working perfectly...and then it wasn't. So, for anyone who has a G4 manufactured before September, don't expect you'll get a warning. Back up and be ready.

My concern now is that the serial # for my refurbished replacement starts with 507...

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

My phone just did the same exact thing today. it was fine, and then it was off. wouldnt turn on at all. pulled the battery put it back in it started to boot and now is stuck in a boot loop. i dont have sprints insurance on it. will lg have a warranty on it so i can get a replacement? btw it also hangs when trying to boot into recovery mode.

Yes, LG will provide warranty repair service since the phone is less than a year old. You will need to ship them the phone after contacting them and getting a repair authorization number. Then they could have the phone for up to two weeks and you will get the same phone back that is hopefully repaired. Mine arrived to their repair facility on Friday and it was shipped back to me this past Monday. I should have it Thursday so all in less than a week.

Some people have claimed that the repaired phones still have issues. I don't know yet and mine will be going back to Verizon since I also had them send me a replacement before I even contacted LG. Since the replacement I received is working fine I'm sending the supposedly repaired phone that LG is returning to me back to Verizon. Best of luck with whatever option you go with.

I feel like you have a solid point my LG S/N starting with 506 is a bootloop victim as of Sunday about ten days ago. On Monday I had to ship my phone out to LG and apparently they shipped it off to a third party repair I won't have my phone back for at least another seven days ugh. Thank goodness I'm halfway through... However I didn't know that was how it worked. My phone being shipped off to a third party and all and I've been pretty darn concerned when they told me the name of the company was All Teck Electronics in Mississauga,Ontario ( for anyone in the GTA ending up in my position). This repair place has a one star rating a myraid of angry and poor reflecting reviews , a reputation to lie and say you phone is water damaged and never answers their phones. I don't even know why lg suggested I call them to ask the status of the repair. Hoping my phone won't come back jacked up. Thank you LG for not informing properly me and being too cheap to give a new unit. They need to a recall and hassle free exchange for effected S/Ns. It's true only Apple would do something like my suggested solution. Which LG is tempting me.... And testing my patience.

I'm on Verizon, and in our case the warranty fulfillment can be done directly through them, as mbnocx alluded. You'll get a "like new" factory refurbished G4, and you'll likely get it in 2 days.

In our case on Verizon, there is no need to deal with LG and the extra wait for a usable G4 (your original in that case).

I can't speak to other carriers and how they deal with the warranty issue. Certainly all G4s should still be under warranty, since it's not been out in the world for a year as yet.

They (whomever you have to talk to) won't likely acknowledge this is a known issue (neither of the two people I spoke with at Verizon would), but I believe that's hogwash. You see in this forum alone how the issue is snowballing, and we are the minority of G4 users overall. It's a known issue for sure. Of course, they'll still have to go through the usual (customer service troubleshooting) attempts to fix it. Just bear with them.

I have yet to find a company that "has heard of" a problem that to me, looked pretty widespread if you look at Forum Posts.

Deny. Deny. Deny.

VW

;-)

On a side note.... I seriously doubt that LG would do a recall due to the fact that the V10 is picking up momentum and the G5 is about to hit the shelves. Unlikely they would do anything that would hurt their reputation and affect sales....

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

I unfortunately joined this growing club last night. Clicked on a Google Now story, started to read it and boom it reboots. I've seen the T-Mo splash screen a few times but it goes away and back to the LG loop. I can get into factory reset also, but it never gets to the android rebuilding screen, just goes black and into loop.

S/N 505...

Going to either ship it to LG today or try my luck at the local T-Mo (No Insurance, on Jump)

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

My phone just started doing this an hour ago. S/N is 505. I cannot go without a phone for a week as I use it for work. There's got be a better "fix" than forcing people to go without their phone for a week? That's acceptable? No way. I'm with AT&T and bought mine at Best Buy. Going to be visiting them after work.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

T-Mo would overnight a "replacement" for $20, I wil probably just send it off to LG and use my old Moto X for the next week

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

the advantage of having a back-up phone, even a cheapo. Being without phone service, for any amount of time, is unacceptable for me

Same problem with dual sim version

I had the same issue with the dual sim version. Phone reboots and drains the battery and I tried everything. Took it to the agent they gave it back after a week. The fix was replacing the motherboard and the battery under warranty. So it is a hardware issue for sure in my case. I switched to the Z5 while the G4 was getting fixed cuz I need dual sim. G4 camera is way better, in fact almost everything is better in the G4(except dual from speakers). But the Xperia battery life(+stamina mode) is the best. I hope Doze in Marshmallow does something similar to the G4 but I doubt it'll be as well integrated as Sony's stamina mode. Cheers!

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

Mine started having this issue a few minutes ago. I have Sprint.
