LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of it?

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot

I just had this happen to my G4 with Sprint. Serial #505... I read this thread last night given me an understanding of the situation. I took the phone to a Sprint store this afternoon and they were super helpful. They agreed it was a known issue. They did about 30 minutes of basic troubleshooting to be able to show on there end that it was not reparable. They have ordered me a replacement G4 that should arrive in 2 days.

Sorry this happened but I'm glad you found the thread. Happy it helped too. I got my referb in two days from T-Mobile and its great.

Also, somehow your post seemed positive. Given the circumstance, I know that seems ridiculous and I know forums are a place for negativity, but it's somehow refreshing that it happened and you're not going to the forums to curse LG forever. Stuff happens. I'm on my third LG device and this is the first issue I've had.

My phone was received by LG Wednesday and I received a Fed Ex email that it had shipped today back to me. No notice yet from LG about what was repaired/replaced. So, whatever they did, it only took a couple of days. I'm hoping for a new motherboard and not re-soldering.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

I managed to get my LG G4 up and running again backing up my data not cloud synced as yet to be safe. This phone has given me the best and worst moments so far as I love it but worried it is going to crash on me.
Steps I did to get it to boot was as follows:
1) remove battery and wait for it to cool down
2) use my original charger and connect it to my quick charge power bank as I don't have a normal quick charge adapter.
3) leave it to loop until it optimised all apps I'm just happy it's on again will update you of anything changes.
Same problem just happened to me. (SN 506)

I'm fine with losing the phone but I want my photos. Ronald, How long did you leave it to loop before it finally booted?
I've been thinking about putting the phone in the freezer, then pulling it out and booting it up while cold and on ice to see if I can get it up long enough to pull my files.

Thanks, Joe.

Kindof feeling stupid not knowing how to subscribe to a thread without replying... but I'm replying to get notifications when people reply. Hoping the freezer works for Joe, or at least the booting forever and ever in hopes of a one day success. Please come back and update :)

Don't feel stupid, it's okay. In the forums app just hit the star in the upper right hand. And totally try the freezer trick. I wish I had tried it myself.

I'm not sure how to do it in the AC app. It's been so long.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot

My sad saga continues. I received my phone back today. Great turnaround; 8 days. I received back my same phone. They claim to have replaced the flash memory module. It stated that a technician had inspected the phone and returned it to a factory condition. Put the battery in and fired it up. It upgraded some android modules, went into the select language screen, then... back to bootloop. After a half hour of hoping it might get past that point, numerous restarts, I finally gave up and called t-mobile. They are now sending me a new/"like new" phone. It can't be any worse than the incompetent facility that LG is dumping these on. I only hope that someone else made the refurb "like new". I still have 4 LG phones active in my family. Done. No more. They don't care and aren't even trying to make this right. At least T Mo is trying to make things right. I should have gone through them originally.

This happened to my G4 (S/N 505) just this evening. I will be taking to Sprint in the morning for a replacement. For those of you having this problem and haven't backed up, I'm not sure if I'm lucky, but I did notice the longer you leave the battery out of the back, the longer the phone will stay on without going into the loop. I left the battery out for 30 minutes and was able to get the phone all the way started for about 5 minutes. I will be leaving my battery out overnight to attempt to save all of my pictures first thing in the morning before taking to Sprint.

Stick it in the freezer for 10-15 min before turning it on, then leave it in there while doing your backups. This should keep your phone cool enough to prevent the heat expansion that's breaking the connection and causing the boot loop. It worked for me and a number of others on here.

Connect your phones to a computer, press volume up to get to download state and use lg bridge to fix it! Worked for me =)

This happened to me back in October. Now, it's happened again (last night) on the replacement I received for the bootloop. 9 months and 2 replacement phones? I will never buy another LG product again. I've had nothing but issues with this phone.

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

I got into a boot loop everytime I reboot the VS986 G4 the past few weeks. What I did was hold down volume down and power until it rebooted, then powered off, hold down volume down and power and then wipe cache and rebooted and all is well again.

Just tried these steps and it brought mine back, 507 sn#

Just joined the club this morning. S/N: 510.

Left the phone to charge overnight, woke up to the boot screen. Wouldn't do anything else even after pulling off the battery and restarting multiple times.

Attempted a factory reset, but it still would hang after selecting the options.

Dropping by the LG service center in my area later to get it sorted. Disappointed.

Also joined the club yesterday. The irony is I was reading something about bootloop bc I kept hearing about it then boom! Stuck! Now i know what it is. SN is 505. Called atnt and they will send a new or refurb one idk.

That is horrible luck! What is the SN - first 3 digits of the one that just went bad?

Hey guys, just joined this club right now! My serial number begins with 505 and it is one of the LG G4's first purchased. Phone froze, I took out the battery and tried to reboot. Wouldn't boot then put in the battery then got stuck in the boot screen loop until eventually it has a blank screen without responding. Judging from the replies on this thread, I need a new phone. Luckily, it's still under warranty. I'm with Vodafone UK, and they've been pretty good about replacing/repairing in warranty phones in the past. Luckily, I have my old Galaxy S4 as backup.

I backed up a few weeks ago but didn't get to do a backup immediately before the fact. Hopefully this will be a lesson to me and others...

Joined this club a couple days ago, 505 as well. Has anyone actually been able to keep their phone on from freezing or no battery or whatever long enough to recover pictures? Tried freezing for a couple hours and still only worked for 2 minutes or so...have definitely learned the hard way to backup your junk.
