LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of it?

Yes, you may be right. In the overall scheme of things another $36 a year is maybe a small cost against the potential for problems. I'm less convinced by the accidental damage warranty--maybe worth it for some people who are accident-prone. My issues with Verizon have more to do with the obfuscation of their costs.

FINALLY got my phone back today, 22 days later, including shipping time (LG in Alabama or Ft. Worth, TX? both appear on the paperwork) Since they were going to charge me $146US to fix the "damaged touchwindow" anyway, I paid $153 for the "full refurbish." The box they returned it in is very sturdy and the phone is well-bubblewrapped.
I put in the sim and SD cards and started it up. It said "optimizing apps" for about 5 or 10 minutes, then the initial setup screen appeared (choose language, check connection, add Google account, etc.)
Then I tried to restore my system using the backupfile on my SD card -- it said cannot use because file is damaged! I tried copying the file to my Win PC and using LG Bridge software's Restore button. "backup corrupted" error! Got a little further by renaming the file to remove special characters, stuck on "do not unplug your device" for a long time, the "corrupted" message again... sighCapture1.JPG
So now I'm downloading all my apps again and MANUALLY copying app settings folder by folder, disabling all the bloatware...I'm telling my husband to please slap me if I ever mention buying another LG phone LOL

Went to ATT looking for a new phone and someone in there had a G4 and was asking about the same issue. I should have paid another $200 and got it through ATT, this way at least I'd have a warranty. Nobody answered about my H815, so I'm guessing I don't have a warranty from the manufacturer, since I bought it new from Ebay.

This happened to me today. Hopefully store is open tomorrow. My serial number starts with 511, looks like this effects the later models also.:(

When I sent mine in to LG, they just required "proof of purchase". So if you can show a copy of your receipt, they might accept that. May be worth a try.

What version phone do you have?

Also can I just replace the motherboard myself if that's the bootloop issue, or is it difficult and/or cost prohibitive?

I didn't see it mentioned in this thread but someone on another website mentioned they turned some cores off so it wouldn't overheat, and that solved the issue. Any truth to this or knowledge of what was done?

Turning a couple cores off may cover up the problem, but I wouldn't trust it long term. If it's a bad solder connection causing the problem, then there's a chance that connection will get worse over time even with reduced heat, and present itself later on.

Close the thread, I have the answer! Contact LG USA support via their online chat. They will replace mine with a USA version for free, even though I have the H815 international version I bought on ebay. Other support methods for this particular model may fail, so use the online support. If you have a non-international version, use this method anyway, since LG should repair or replace for free.

Even still, it's gotta be a refurbished device. I've read that even the LG repaired units crash at some point.

In that case, well done.

I hope it's a later version serial number that doesn't experience the problem, unless they all do?

Here's what they said (and then separately when I asked if it's new, used or refurb, they said new):
"This model is a non-U.S. model but we would like to help. As long as the device does not have physical, liquid, or cosmetic damage, what we can do is replace your device with a U.S. model."

Got my mom a G4 last July so she could be an Uber driver.
Today her phone up and bootlooped.
She pulled the battery and it came back on and worked for half an hour, then bootlooped again.
I just talked her through a factory reset, she lives two hours away, luckily she has an old pay as you go phone for backup but it is not a smart phone (figured may as well try a reset, she'll have to start over anyway if we have to send it in, though I made sure her pics and most everything is synced to Google, so she shouldn't have lost much).
She is going to call me back when the factory reset finishes... if it finishes. How long should it take? And what should the screen look like? she said it didn't seem to be doing anything after she selected yes the second time, but I don't know exactly what she was looking at. It's always hard doing long distance tech support for this sort of thing.

Just happened to my wife's 10-month old LG G4 on Monday while on vacation. I went to T-Mobile today and the CSR said he knew of the issue and they would easily swap it out; however, when he looked at the phone in more detail, he realized the phone had sustained water damage, therefore, his hands were tied. The phone did get wet six months ago, but it was very brief and the phone worked with no issue until now.

My question is will LG honor the warranty for this known issue even though the water damage indicator is pink?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Answered my own question. Just got the phone back yesterday. LG fixed the issue at no charge even though the phone technically had water damage from a prior incident. Hope this helps someone else.

Oh ok, I didn't know if there was one on the phone, since someone could just swap the battery. I saw that one before. I know some phones they're actually on the phone itself.

Might be a stupid question, so i'm sorry. I'm at work and can't spend forever reading. My phone got stuck in bootloop a few days ago. Called verizon, no help. Does asking LG to fix the issue apply to people who are past the warranty date?
