I had a Galax S3 for 2.5 years, I dropped it and broke th lass on the screen so I decided to upgrade. I went in to the Sprint Store and was added to my dads family plan and it was at that point that the Sprint Store Employee recommended that I go with the LG G4. This was about a month ago and I have to say that this phone is absolute GARBAGE!!! I NEVER EVER in 2.5 years of beating up my Galaxy S3 had anywhere close to the problems that I have with this BRAND NEW LG G4 In the month that I've had this stupid phone I've had to bring it in to the Sprint Store 3 times because it randomly shuts down, then freezes then restarts an freezes then gets hot so I have to kep the battery out for like a half hour. At one point they even had to wipe the phone clean and start over because the Google Software failed and put the phone in to some sort of repeat mode and I lost all my contacts and the few pictures that I had taken with the phone. The phone is being leased fom Sprint and they would rather me come in every other day to complain rather than just give me back my precious Samsung. Any solutions on how to fix this restart and freeze issue on this crap LG G4? I don't think I'm going to make it another year and 11 months with it restarting and freezing every day several times a day. Please HELP!!!

1. return the device; it sounds defective.
2. look into cloud storage and autobackup solutions for important things, like photos
3. call Sprint's corporate as this store seems supremely unhelpful or unqualified to resolve your situation

Yep, I agree on the return. Sounds like a dud. It's technology, there are always going to be random bad ones. The problem with the internet is all you see are the complaints. But if you read thru this forum you will see there are plenty of people happy with their G4.

Please...stop. I came from the GS3 too and it's not even in the same universe as the G4. You got a dud...bring it back...it's garbage, however lets not blame the G4 overall, it's the best phone I've ever owned by a long shot. Now that I've tweaked it, it's just running smoothly and meeting all my needs. Love it.

Demand a new one and get on with it, you're wasting your time and raising your blood pressure over a dud, not worth it. I'd be mad too, but I'd also be walking around with a new phone at this point.

The problem seems to be at it's worse when I use the camera or send a picture to someone. I'll take a picture, the phone will then freeze, shut down and not turn back on so I have to take out the battery for 30 seconds then when it turns back on it freezes on the LG screen and starts to get hot so I have to take the battery out again and repeat this process sometimes 5-6 times before I can get the phone to turn on. Twice today it froze, shut down then did an automatic "App Optimizing" for 20 apps but then froze again on app 3 of 20 and the phone got really hot so I had to take out the battery. This happens daily, several times a day and it's extremely frustrating!

Return the phone and demand a replacement. If your local store is refusing to help, find another store. If another store isn't an option ask for the manager at your local store. If they won't help, call Sprint. Of the person can't help you, ask for a manager and then keep asking for their manager until you can't go any higher. I was forced into doing that once several years ago and ended up getting all 4 phones replaced and a free month of service for my trouble.

So because your phone clearly does NOT function correctly they all must function like this? ......... Lol

Def. Return it.

This is exactly what people complaint about Note 4, never heard these things on G4

You got a lemon. I can assure you the odds of getting a bad one are small. I think your issue is more with Sprint than LG?

Good luck!

I will say, opinions regarding this phone have been glowing coming from the international crowd, sans bloat ware and whatnot. I would say my next phone would be an international phone, but I'm fairly confident I'll be going back to a Nexus next time around.

It's true that your unit is a garbage and obviously faulty, nothing to do with it being a G4 or not. You can't be thinking that the rest of us here are still using a phone with faulty software that freezes and auto shut down every other day right?

  1. Get a replacement phone
  2. Make sure you set pictures to save on the SD card and/or use cloud backup
  3. Export contacts to SD card and/or use cloud backup
  4. Install the ZV5 update (this has resolved a lot of issues for people)
  5. (Optional) root phone
If the above steps don't work out for you, then consider a different phone and/or carrier.

I will echo what others have said -- You got a dud / lemon. I would exchange it.

I had a gs3 for 2 years with my last company, it's not a good phone lol.

Please exchange your G4 before calling it garbage. It is possible to get a bad apple in a batch. Especially with electronics

So you're criticizing the entire phone just because you've got a defective unit?

Exchange it for a different unit. My H815 has been running absolutely fine for nearly 2 months now and even with a lot of apps and 11GB remaining on its internal storage, it still runs as well as it did when I first unboxed it.

My friend's M9 (different phone, I know) recently overheated really badly and I made a thread asking for help. I didn't call the M9 "garbage" or anything as I was pretty sure its a defect and as the issue isn't common.

In short, don't let one bad apple ruin the entire batch.

He's had it for a month. I don't know Sprint's policy, but Verizon gives you a 14 day return/exchange policy.

Let's assume you're outside of the period where Sprint will help, even if you escalate. Then I would talk to LG, and get it replaced under warranty. Something is wrong with yours, that is not normal.
