Lg g4... With all issues.. Is it still worth it

You bring up an excellent point. No device family/platform is immune to having issues or problems.

I have had the g4 since it came out and have not had any issues with it. That being said if I were to buy a new phone today it would be a V10 only because I want a bigger screen. Other then that a g4 is the next choice.

I'm very happy with this phone. Got it in November and haven't had any problems. I also ended up using Nova launcher after suffering through the stock option for a while. Great battery life (with a few tweaks) and super fun camera. I'm in love! Who cares about the g5! 😉

All I know is that my Verizon LG g4 had touch screen issues and battery life was terrible. That's my 2 cents. Mine was a July or June build

You bring something awesome to the table; collyesta; and social scientists try to put this notion forward when analyzing research trends.

People tend to (and this is obviously not representative of "everyone") write or post about negative things; like devices or reviews of specific establishments. For instance, I've seen workplace attractions on Facebook and a lot of the reviews I've read are from "dissatisfied" customers... And yet, when someone has a good experience, they may not feel as inclined to let people know about it. The same could be true with devices: when you go to do research on a particular device, a lot of the things that may come up are negative reviews or the seemingly-rampant search results on forum pages of issues with the device... I came across this when I researched the G3 at times. However, if people are more likely to post about queries or issues with the device, we may ascertain that the device is fraught with problems; because we do not see as many positive reviews of the device/praise reports.

Just something I like to think about, and think is totally relevant for device forums and customer/guest reviews of different establishments.

Thanks so much! I completely agree that thinking about this kind of thing is extremely important particularly when researching devices. However, it also makes it so hard to figure out where there is a problem and where there isn't. For example, I've been desperately trying to find out if the mic problem the G4 has (voices tending to sound nasal in videos recorded on most G4 models) affects call quality and voice recording, and I have yet to get a more or less clear answer. I've even made a thread about it where I put links to examples of what I meant, but people's experiences with the device and their perception of what sounds right or wrong varied so much that I still don't know what to think. Same with the lg V10.. It has a problem with it's screen (it can spontaneously crack on it's own probably because the frame around it is too tight in some models), and figuring out just how prevalent the problem is next to impossible from forums since that's where people are going to post about their negative experiences.

I think, when researching the quality of a phone, for a while one gets a lot of information and learns a lot but at a certain point this gaining of knowledge stops and after that point it either just stays the same and more information does not actually lead to more understanding or it can even go down when one becomes too confused about the device to fully understand it.

That said, I love researching devices (particularly phones) and reading forums :)

I've had T-Mo H811 since day 1. Developed boot loop problem a couple of months ago. T-Mo replaced it with no problem and it's been working fine since then. I love this phone.

I am not sure if T-Mobile have it but the newest LG G4 with starting serial number 512 come out of the box with marshmallow installed

Got mine right at launch. Had the dreaded bootloop death and received a replacement from att. Even with that headache I'd do it all again. I love the G4 and even tried a nexus 6p which was awesome too but still went back to my g4. I see myself keeping this device for a long time.

Verizon G4, 505 series from launch. No issues whatsoever. Don't worry too much about it. If you want the phone then just buy it. It's a great device! Just make sure to thoroughly tested during the return. That's all.

i say wait. i have it. it failed me. no more lg for me once i switch. you will lose a lot if not all of your saved data if you don't use the sd card for everything.

I love my Verizon G4. Sadly it developed boot loops tonight. I ended up with my G4 because my G3 stopped recognizing my SIM card ( early September ). I am happy they have identified the issue leading to the G4 boot loops; however, I am astonished that LG did not test its product thoroughly.

I am unsure of what all will transpire at the Verizon store tomorrow morning, but chances are it will involve me purchasing a v10. If it develops problems before my next upgrade cycle I am done with LG.

If I were you I would wait for the G5 or get the V10.

I went with a used V10 over used G4 since all the issues, I have not been disappointed (the DAC is amazing).

I definitely agree with you! Everyone's experiences and viewpoints are more subjective than objective; which makes it really difficult for one to gain a factual answer regarding things like mic issues/hearing quality. Something that is fairly objective is being skewed by things like opinions, experiences, etc.; which isn't *all bad,* but it does make you wonder what is actually happening - are these answers more based on specs and information they've read (and are *those* things clouded with bias and judgment, too?); or are they more biased in nature? Scoial scientists are taught that there is always a certain level of bias in everything; and I believe that is absolutely true.

Agreed! I think after a while, all the information/"research" we obtain kind of goes in one ear and out the other, so to speak: we get overwhelmed with information/reviews and eventually, we don't know what to do with all of it. I think at a certain point in the device researching process, one really needs to go out and try the phone him/herself, so he/she can get more of their own reality/experience to add to the table; and then you can add in your own judgments and objective/subjective reports.

I love that too! Phone forums are the best! :) Please let us know what your final phone decision will be! :)

I've had mine turnabout three months and it's been great. No real issues. Mine was manufactued in July.

What kind of "problems"?

I got a H815P S/N 506.

I bought mine on august and to this day I have never felt comfortable enough with my purchase. Whenever I have time I go around looking for a new phone. Im currently waiting for the S7 to launch else I'll go with the Motorola X Force.

I had my dealer to replace my first G4 because the screen was very unresponsive.

I hate the LED notification bug, no matter what ROM I use, the original or a custom one (oficial with some tweaks due to locked bootloader) the LED notification flashes like a christmas tree very often.

I got the G4 day 1 on Tmobile and I eventually had to replace it because it eventually bootlooped on me.

Even with that occurring I would wholeheartingly recommend getting this phone. It does everything pretty well and is the best phone I have had hands down.
