Lg g4... With all issues.. Is it still worth it

I had the G4, and it was a good phone, but I currently have the V10 and it is an AMAZING phone! I would highly recommend the V10!

Not everyone have V10 money to buy one... Like in my case. I will probably upgrade to the G4 from my current G3 device.

Just out of interest what are all these "issues" with the g4.

Also where do I find the serial number with regards to 505 506 etc and what is it about pre Sept/ Aug phones

Some G4 with the starting serial code 505, 506, 507, 508 have motherboard issues. Not all are affected and these issues are supposed to be fixed in G4 that were built on Sep or after Sept, 2015. So basically if you are in the market for a G4, make sure it was built after Sept 2015, just to be sure.

How do I find serial number and when mine was built

And that serial number (not to be confused with the IMEI) is printed on the device behind the battery.

I've had no problems. Great phone overall. External speaker is g4's only flaw, IMO

Yeah, coming from the HTC M8, this is the G4's only weak point. Everything else knocks it out of the park.

Heh. I was actually pretty impressed with the speaker when I first heard it. And still like it. But, I don't use them often and don't particularly care how they sound.

I definitely agree with you! Everyone's experiences and viewpoints are more subjective than objective; which makes it really difficult for one to gain a factual answer regarding things like mic issues/hearing quality. Something that is fairly objective is being skewed by things like opinions, experiences, etc.; which isn't *all bad,* but it does make you wonder what is actually happening - are these answers more based on specs and information they've read (and are *those* things clouded with bias and judgment, too?); or are they more biased in nature? Scoial scientists are taught that there is always a certain level of bias in everything; and I believe that is absolutely true.

Agreed! I think after a while, all the information/"research" we obtain kind of goes in one ear and out the other, so to speak: we get overwhelmed with information/reviews and eventually, we don't know what to do with all of it. I think at a certain point in the device researching process, one really needs to go out and try the phone him/herself, so he/she can get more of their own reality/experience to add to the table; and then you can add in your own judgments and objective/subjective reports.

I love that too! Phone forums are the best! :) Please let us know what your final phone decision will be! :)

Couldn't agree more :) This pretty much summarizes my researching efforts/experience. I've also started going to shops where I can try out different phones for a bit to a get a feel for them, so that's been helping too. Moreover, this thread has been great so far in getting the more positive side of things! I am really grateful that so many people are posting :)

I have a 506 with a June build, which I picked up in July. I had an initial touch issue, but has been rectified completely with the newest s/w update. I also have 6.0 on it now - 812 variant.

Amazing phone.

You bring something awesome to the table; collyesta; and social scientists try to put this notion forward when analyzing research trends.

People tend to (and this is obviously not representative of "everyone") write or post about negative things; like devices or reviews of specific establishments. For instance, I've seen workplace attractions on Facebook and a lot of the reviews I've read are from "dissatisfied" customers... And yet, when someone has a good experience, they may not feel as inclined to let people know about it. The same could be true with devices: when you go to do research on a particular device, a lot of the things that may come up are negative reviews or the seemingly-rampant search results on forum pages of issues with the device... I came across this when I researched the G3 at times. However, if people are more likely to post about queries or issues with the device, we may ascertain that the device is fraught with problems; because we do not see as many positive reviews of the device/praise reports.

Just something I like to think about, and think is totally relevant for device forums and customer/guest reviews of different establishments.

So true. When people, including myself, first got the phone last summer, this forum was filled with mostly people talking about how much they love their new phones, or how to do something, of what's a good app for this, good case for that. Now that the we all have gotten the happy talk out of our systems, figured out how to do most things, set up our apps, and found the right case, the posts about what's wrong are starting to overwhelm the number of positive posts and make it look like a high percent of phones are failures. There is a poll on one of the threads where people log whether or not they've had a problem, but I haven't looked at it for a while. I bought mine in July, SN 506. I have had very few of the most reported problems you read about here, including touch screen issues, over heating, bad battery life, and of course, the now-famous Boot Looping, bad Motherboard. I'm knocking on wood I don't get the problem, but so far, so good for me :).

Of course my replacement G4 begins with 506. I wonder since it's a refurb it should be OK? I have noticed the GPS can get a little out of sync on occasion.

TMO H811 with 508 s/n here.

Very happy with it. Installed Google Now launcher and froze all the LG and Tmo stuff I didn't want/need and have been happy since then - runs smooth and battery lasts well through the day. And after two years loving my N5 but hating the limited storage, the SD card makes me jump for joy daily.

My only gripe is size - but I knew that going in, and it's merely a preference. Nice to have the big screen for reading, but all in all I'd prefer something N5 or GS6 sized.

I'd say it's a very solid option at the price it's going for.

I switched from a samsung Galaxy s6 edge and I now have an LG H815 (december Build) and I do not regret it.
Battery has been awesome. Buttery smooth with MM and most of all that quick circle is just to awesome to pass. SD card capability was the reason I switched and WOW i mean does it TAKE AMAZING PICTURES AT NIGHT! what's a smart phone if it cant take great pictures when your out an about at night.

Definitely A keeper. Oh and DID i tell you its soo much better that that stupid s6 edge that samsung si hyping about

I've been very happy with mine. Good battery, great camera. Nova launcher prime to get the most out of it. My wife has an iPhone 6 and I wouldn't want it over the LG. Buddy at work has a Note 4 and I'd take the G4 over it. If i was getting anew phone i'd would maybe wait to see what the G5 looks like.
