Lg g4... With all issues.. Is it still worth it

Mine (on Verizon) is flawless. Best camera I've used, go to bed with about 50% battery left, and never gives the slightest problem. I wouldn't trade it for ANY phone out right now. Having said that, if I were in the market for a new device, like the post above this one, I'd wait to see what the G5 looks like.

If you buy right now a G4 is not going to be affected by the issue. Remember the only ones with the problem is with devices that serial numbers starts with 505, 506, 507, 508.

My serial number starts with 506 and the phone has had no issues. Going on 7 months.

Never say never... after 12 months and out of warranty, the G3 and the G4 starts developing the issue. It is in the DNA of LG products. Same thing happens with LG watching machines, after the initial warranty expires... It's when the problem starts.

In the DNA of LG products? Give me a break. You can find problems with every manufacturer. It happens.

And my LG front loaders are in their 7th year and run just as well as the day I bought them.

LG needs to have a 5.1 inch version and a 5.5 inch. Hate all the phablet hype, I switch tracks often on my phone when driving all the time and a 5.5 inch screen MAKES me have to wiggle around

I have had my SN# 505 phone pretty much since Day 1 and have not had any issues.

As a matter of fact, this is the first time I have not gotten upgrade-itis after 6 months in a while.

I've had my ATT 810 since last September and it has been great, with a few caveats:

1. I disabled all ATT bloatware.
2. Rooted
3. Installed Xposed and running several modules
4. I installed qi sticker for wireless charging, works great.

Only real problem; I do experience the bluetooth bug occasionally and have to toggle bluetooth on and off for connection.

No touchscreen issues, great battery life. Love microSD for local backups and music and ability to swap batteries.

Only want to change from G4 because I'm bored and want a phone I can actually put a custom rom on bc of locked bootloader. Flat back would be better for wireless charging too.

No, I had too many issues with the g4, I only kept it for 2 months then dropped it and bought a Note 5, much happier with the Note

I was looking at it for the camera and wondering has anyone dropped an AOSP ROM on it and gotten the same quality of pictures off it? I've got the S6e bought totally because the camera fires fast and gets amazing pics. I have two small kids and being able to quicklaunch and shoot something decent was my number one priority. Not being able to put an AOSP build on this has been my biggest complaint other than battery, and having an 808 instead of the Exynos had me looking at a reduced price G4. However reading how the Nexus 5X runs with the same setup but a smaller screen has me wondering how well the G4 would do not running an LG ROM.

To each his own I guess. I bought it in June, loved it for a few months and then found myself charging it after lunch! It also constantly dropped my home wifi. I downgraded to a Sony Xperia Z3 and I love it. I use my phone a lot, keep bluetooth and gps on and it lasts until well after dinner and usually bedtime. Camera isn't as bad as I thought it would be, just wish the speaker was a bit louder for when I listen to podcasts. I'm trying to dump the LG actually (T-Mobile).

I switched to TMo from VZW in December and got a G4 for my wife. she loves it and the camera. Then they lowered the price to $16.67 a month, so I swapped out her leather back for the plain back which she prefers and got it lowered, then I went ahead and got the leather myself, since it was $16.67/mo. I had a MotoXDE which was fine, but I wanted a new phone and rather than drop the same $ up front for a new Moto X Play, I can get the G4 on a monthly basis for about the same.

I have had mine since late July and like it. My daughter's occasionally drops out of our home wifi but I am not a heavy video streamer so I generally stick with the network. So far, no problems. The only thing I find slightly baffling is the antenna/network connectivity (I'm on ATT). My Galaxy S4 used to be able to maintain a data connection with one or two bars of LTE or with a bunch of bars of 4G, but this phone seems to need a strong LTE connection to do much of anything. We tried the leather backs (got them in the promo) but didn't like them and ended up selling them. I put the Qi sticker inside and have wireless charging working. I can see the temptation to root, though, to streamline things a little...

I am intrested in the g4.

But with all the issues recently is it a worthwhile device still

I know the g5 is coming soon... But the pricing looks to be high

Out of curiosity, what "issues" is the LG G4 supposed to be having?

Generally speaking mine has been running pretty smooth. My only complaint is that the battery dies in about a day or less. Compared to my previous HTC One M8 for Windows that ran for about 2 - 2 and 1/2 days, it's a little underwhelming. Got my device around September 2015 and have nothing cringeworthy to complain about.

Yours is pretty recent but I will recommend to keep backing up your stuff to the cloud in case your phone decide to go to a boot loop. This is the issue with most G4.

The boot loop issue has been officially confirmed by LG. Consider yourself lucky if you haven't had it...

I picked up a G4 last month after having a G3 for a little over a year. I absolutely love the G4. If it had a fingerprint scanner it would be the perfect device. Everything about it is great. Size, screen, camera, form factor, speed, battery life, all excellent.

I discovered that with the OS change, it knows the storage locations by new names, so my gallery app couldn't find my pictures until I reconfigured it to look in different folders. The SD card isn't called ExternalSD or anything like that, it's got a number/letter name. Just in case this isn't something you expected to happen...

I decided this was the phone I wanted, but am now hesitating after hearing about the bootloop issues. I was planning on buying a like new one from swappa.com for $300. Would I still have the warranty if I bought it 3rd party? It seems as tho thats pretty important with the bootloop issue.

Or rather, unlucky if you have.

Any idea what percentage of the devices have been affected? 1%? 5? A plague! We're all doomed!

Snap. Thankfully I have everything saved to an SD card, but I can see why that might be frustrating. Is this directly related to the 6.0 Marshmallow update? Would you recommend that I hold off from installing it?
