LG G6 - Camera shots! Show us your pictures

Thats a little concerning. I tried using the manual mode for focus yesterday and what I thought was in focus was clearly not when I looked at the pics on my computer. Is it just during low light you're getting blurry shots?

yes just during low light and any kind of movement like when my dog is slightly moving. I am concerned about low light and image stabilization.

I will do more testing and take my Pixel XL and do some comparison shot.

Heres 2 shots I just took in my office. I pulled the phone up and snapped the shot in the same motion instead of taking my time to focus on something. I mainly just want to see if the image would blur. Theres no lights on in the office and the sky is grey, no sun so its pretty low light. Im not seeing much blur even though I didnt steady the camera. And my pics are now rotating lol. What I do see though is some grainy edges on the outlet in the first pic.

Those are good. But you can see the sunlight coming in from the window from the shadows.
I posted some great pics earlier in the thread and they came out great.

What the G6 camera seems to have problems with is low light and movement.
In the pics I posted it had trouble focusing fast enough to catch my dog. We called her so she wasn't moving fast but still the camera should get those shots. Then other shots were just scenery and they were still blurry.

Movement in particular is where the V20 fails as well so it's disappointing to see the G6 doing the same. Especially since mine is ready for pickup today at UPS. This is probably the least excited I've been to try out a new phone in quite some time.

Unfortunately theres no sunlight here today lol. It may not look like it in the pic but its pretty dark in here. This is outside right now. Ill have to try and get some moving shots and see what happens.

Test it and let us know. I might have a bad camera in my unit. You never know.

That is a nice pic. My thoughts are any $300 phone can get those still shots. It is a pretty easy thing to do with today's technology. It's when we throw in low light and some movement that we test the sensors and image stabilization.

Ok here we go. The first 2 shots are holding the phone still and taking the picture when the car comes into the shot. The car blurs like crazy but I kinda expect that. The last 2 shots are when I track the car and take the shot which is what I would expect the shot to look like. In the 3rd pic another car comes into view while tracking the black one and blurs like crazy as it should. So based on what Im getting you shouldnt be having an issue tracking your dog and getting clean shots. A car doing 25mph vs a walking dog,, you should at the least be getting the same results if not better than me.

Ive been wanting to ask this but didnt want to look like a fool but screw it. Is there a protective film on the camera out of the box? It doesnt look like it but I had a phone recently that I couldnt tell for weeks there was a film on it.

Nice shots....Its the 3rd shot that shows the blur on the other car on the left....not the Jeep.

Zoom in on some of those shots. You will see the blur on the moving objects. Look at the sign as a reference point. Some shots you can read the sign but the moving car is blurry.

Right, and thats what I mean by somethings wrong since you're pics of you're dog is so blurry. If you're tracking you're dog when you take the shot he should come out focused while everything else may blur a little since he's the focal point. In you're pics though everythings blurry which suggests you're camera isnt focusing properly. Comparing our pics with movement it looks like somethings not right with you're camera. Hopefully a few others can take some movement shots and see what they get.

If you open all of your shots the cars are all burry. If you focus in the sign in the front yard it is not moving but it is blurry in mist if the shots. That tells me image stabilization is not working correctly.

My shots with my dog.....We would call her and she she would stop then I would shoot her just as she was starting to move again. So she is not moving fast all.
I will test again and see if I have a bad unit.
But these are shots my Pixel and 7+ do very routinely.

I'm pretty sure you don't have a bad unit. I'm a big LG fan but that is pretty typical of LG phones. Not sure if it's slow focusing, processing, or the 2 year old Sony sensor but blurry motion shots are pretty common.

I'll try and put my G6 to the test later today with my puppy. I'll probably do that before I even setup the phone.

Thanks for the info! Looking forward to seeing your tests.

I really like the phone but I'm a little concerned about the camera. I was at the mall with my daughter this weekend and took some pics of her while we were eating and sitting down. Low light but not terribly low light and I had to take 10 pics to get one in focus. I couldn't get a wide angle without a lot of motion blur.

That is what I am finding too. Love this phone and all that it brings to the table. But the camera is a deal breaker for me. I am getting a lot of blurry out of focus shots that have any kind of movement in them at all.

Well this certainly isn't a great trend developing in this thread. At UPS picking up now and almost don't even want to open it given what's been posted so far.

this is quite interesting as the reviews indicated the camera was one of the stronger features of the phone
