Lg g6 good to buy now?

Just a follow-up, I'm on my sixth day with my G6 and I'm very happy. I know it's early but battery life has been excellent, and this screen is great as far as I'm concerned. It may not be AMOLED but brightness is more than adequate in direct sunlight, and no polarization in landscape mode! That used to frustrate me to no end with the V10. So, to the OG post, I certainly think it's great to buy. Also, wireless charging is bad ***, don't think I'll ever go back to a cable if I can help it...

So glad that you are loving it so far, and that the battery and fast charging are working well for you! It is truly a beast of a phone.

Thanks. Maybe I'm just thrilled compared to the way my V10 seemed to fade rapidly about mid afternoon sometimes...

lol, in that case yes compared to the v10 i had battery life is excellent, my v10 would be dying by mid day. Where as on my G6, sometimes it does take some usage management but i can generally get through a day with a little room depending on the usage.

Agreed. The G6 is a good phone, but the upgrade experience from the G4 to G6 has taught me one thing:

The mobile phone industry is, now, pretty much where the PC industry was not too long ago...at a point of "decreasing returns" for lack of better words. In day-to-day use, there are simply no major improvements in performance to be seen. Maybe we're getting to the point in this industry where a phone can last 5+ years before needing to be replaced, much like the PC market.

Anyway...kinda off topic, but the OP's question pushed my brain in that direction....

Good point, and I agree. Based on limited improvements in performance and features, many of us would happily use a phone well more than the 2 year cycle the carriers have conditioned us to expect.

But the manufacturers seem to be closing off that option with the sealed battery concept. I doubt if we'd want to use a phone with the limited battery capacity resulting from 3 to 4 years of daily charge/discharge cycles!

(My apologies for straying from the topic as well. But I've never liked sealed batteries for this reason. Even though I really like my G6, I miss the removable battery of the Lumia 950 it replaced.)

G6 is not good. I purchased at the end o f may 2017. From the very beginning I had the issue of the screen going black and freezing. This happened specifically when I used the stock messaging app. I took it back to the store about 1 week after purchasing. They wanted to give me refurbished. I refused because that is b.s. to get a refurbished phone when I just bought it and its defective. I thought I found a work around by downloading a different messaging app. Now just 2 weeks ago I'm getting the black screen on all apps. I gave in and took the refurbished Exchange. This phone is even worse. I hadn't even left the parking lot when it did it again. I took it back. They looked it up and found that this is a known issue. The phone froze and blacked out again in the store. I'm going to switch to a different phone. Its ridiculous.

Known issue? Where?

After owning a 3 Samsung phones over the past 5 years or so I decided to get the LG G6 and it's become my most favorite phone. I've owned it for about 4 months now and it's been working great. Very good battery life, snapping performance, no lagging, and excellent camera. Although the LG V30 has better hardware (OLED screen, faster processor etc) I would still get the G6 today because of the much lower cost.
