I've had S6, S7, & S8 and still have the 6&8. In good light outdoors the S6 rules, it's not even close. The ability to crop and zoom while still retaining detail is astonishing - again only in good light. The S7 and especially the S8 are vastly better at indoor shots, especially when is comes to balancing varying areas of brightness. Take a picture in a fairly dim room with a lamp in a corner and the results are better than most SLR's. Video on the S7&8 is a bit disappointing. I don't feel it's any better and with the lower overall resolution, zooming more than slightly yields very poor results. Overall the S8 is a good camera but you can definitely tell they are reaching the limits with the current setup. Most of what you'll see going forward is likely to be "party tricks" or specialized situation optimization.
