I just recently got my LG G6 and I just have a question about the text messages. When my phone is asleep and I get a text message, my screen doesnt turn on. Is that a normal feature on the G6 or is there something I need to do to make it do so? It actually doesnt turn on with any of my alerts no matter if its email or whatnot. Any help would be fantastic!

This was an issue for me when I switched from Apple to Android. Only solution I found was to use Floatify along with Nova Prime Launcher (and Teslaunread for notification bubbles on each app). You may be able to use Floatify by itself, but I'm not sure.

Settings-notifications-Apps-select the one you want, choose the action you want. For you, you should select open notification bar. From your messaging app you can decide how much of the text is displayed.

That would work when his screen is on/ awake, but I believe he wants notifications when his screen is locked/ asleep. AFAIK, this isn't a thing Android does natively, and needs 3rd party apps to attain.

This is the way I prefer it (I don't want anything waking up my screen but me) but I use Textra for SMS, and it has an option whether or not to wake up the screen on notifications. Textra has other goodies that make it one of the first things I install on any phone anyway.

I thought the built-in messaging app had a similar option but since it's not my default messaging app, it won't let me go in and check all the settings to find it.

Always on Display would allow your phone to wake with a notification icon; but not with a preview of the text message, etc.
