LG phone locked up

The phone was idle for a while and when I went to make a phone call the screen was locked up. I tried to Restart and Shut it off but the touch screen wouldn't respond to anything. Even took the SIM chip out and put it back in... nothing.
Yesterday when I was playing a word game I noticed that every time I touched the screen it made a slight clicking noise. That had never happened before but since it still worked I kept using it. Maybe that was a clue that the phone was dying?? Any ideas? Time for a new phone?

I never had that kind of symptom with any of my LG phones, but they haven't made phones for several years now. I think the last release was in 2020, so whatever you have right now is probably just getting worn out. That, plus the lack of security updates, and I would recommend just moving on. There's a good chance you are dealing with a hardware issue, which is only going to get worse. Otherwise maybe consider a factory reset and see what happens.

I've come to that conclusion too... it's toast. I'm not real savvy about phones. Is my data on the micro SD card? Can this be transferred to a new phone?
