AC Question

I recently obtained a lg stylo 2, it has a internal memory of 16gbs and i put a 32gb samsung micro sd card into it, it shows the card under storage and i can move images/audio/video to it, but it wont allow me to move apps to it.

Hi everyone as frustrated as me. I too had gone round in circles trying to move apps to my sd card as my phone is pretty full. I ended up writing and after being sent pointless wrong information I finally got this reply- with grammar syntax and other errors intact:

Thank you for contacting LG Customer Support. We apologise for the inconvenience if the phone is not letting you to transfer apps to SD card. We have already advised by our Product Expert that its not already possible to transfer apps to SD card since its already running to Marshmallow even Nougat, except for photos, videos and music, which are possible to transfer to SD card. The last update that apps can be transfer to SD card is the Lollipop version.

We appreciate your patience and thank you for continued supporting our products.

Does anyone have a clue what this means - are we stuck with an operating system that will never allow the movement of apps. Marshmallow Nougat who cares? I simply want a phone that at that price should allow this. Good riddance LG

Hello to all posting,

If still needed, there is a way to enable adoptable storage on the Stylo 2. It does require some knowledge of adb and simple adb commands. Here's the link that provides step by step instructions:

6.0 LG G Stylo Boost/Sprint/Virgin Adoptable… | LG G Stylo

Although it originally was posted for the original Stylo, I can confirm it works on the Boost Mobile variant of the Stylo 2, and presumably the Metro PCS Stylo 2 Plus (I have not tested that phone, however).

Hope it helps!

I follow all the steps and it worked, I was able to move apps into the sd card of my daughters LG Stylo II with t-mobile, but now in the file transfer the sd card is non existent, or if I connect the phone to a computer all I see is the internal data but not the sd card.

HELP, how do I see the sd card so I can back up the information.

Thanks,
Laura

In summary, per Liz/LG Support today, LG doesn't allow any of their phones to use SD cards as internal storage. 😢 AND... you cannot move apps to SD on the LG Stylo 2 Plus (MS550).

I have an LG Stylo 2 Plus also that doesn't give me the option to move apps to SD. Also, I was very excited to learn that Android 6.0 Marshmallow had a new feature to format the SD card as internal storage but it would not give me the option to do so with my phone. There's a great tutorial on YouTube showing how to do it on a Samsung.

After spending hours researching the problem today, I called LG Support to inquire about this problem and was told NONE of the LG phones would allow an SD card to be used as internal storage and said my model apparently doesn't give the option to move apps to SD card after she had me go through nearly a dozen apps proving the option was not there. Not being able to use my SD Card as internal storage was very upsetting to me because I ruined my brand new SanDisk SD card by formatting it thinking that would fix the problem and in doing so I erased the Data Recovery feature of my SD card and it still didn't fix the problem. The trade off would have been ok if it worked because I need more internal storage. LG Support did say there were 3rd Party apps that would allow apps to run on SD cards but she wasn't allowed to recommend any of them. I hate to switch to another mfgr because I like the format of contact info and it's easy to transfer ALL notes when I get a new phone not to mention the battery is still removable but if they don't do something to fix this I may have to drop LG because their phones with 32gb storage is way out of my price range and probably others as well.

Go to apps or app manager in settings (general tab) and open. tap app to move then storage. If able to be moved a change button appears. Tap and select sd card. Confirm and wait. Must be done with each app. I'm on LG Stylo 2 with 7.0

Go to settings scroll down to apps and click the app, once there you will see downloaded apps then scroll ph to left you will see apps on SD card if you scroll to left again you will see Running apps and the next will be All apps. Scroll back to the SD apos. If you have downloaded any apps you will see a list of them with a small box to the right of each app just click on it and you will be able to move them to SD..Now for pics and videos I had to move mine manually. I also found that I could only move apps I downloaded. NOTE if you update an app you may have to go and move it again

It isa problem with Android 6.0, AKA MarshmallowI have the same device under Boost Mobile, which sernt out an OTA upgrade to Nougat around 2 years ago. Although you won't be able to move the entire app to the card, as a small portion needs to remain in internal storage for the app to work, the data portion will be moved, freeing up space. For anyone who might be on Sprint, Boost or Virgin Mobile, the update may already be there. Open up Settings, then General, scroll down to System Updates and the file should be there. If not there, go to the Website and there should be a list. If not, google it. The SD card will appear in Storage and movable apps will have a change button. In addition, there will be the option of a dark, high-contrast display background, improvements in battery life and security.
