Android Central Question

Hi All,

I have an LG Stylo 3 that is showing less than 60 mb left of internal space. So I have moved pics and multiple apps on the external chip. That helped a little but not a lot. So here's the strange part. When I connect the phone to my computer and look at the properties of the internal storage it does show only 60mb left. But if I go into the interal storage drive and select all files (hidden files also) and look at the properties it shows I'm only using 451mb of used space. So it seems like I should have many gigs of available free space. ??????Any help or ideas out there

1. "Moving an app" to the SD card moves each class separately, leaving a link in main storage pointing to where in the SD card the code was moved (since Android looks to internal storage for apps). If the piece moved is about the size of a link, you haven't saved any space.

2. Install a terminal app, like Terminal Emulator for Android. Then enter the command

df

followed by the enter key. You'll see a list of partitions and their sizes. (Scroll up if you need the headers, to see which column is what.) The last partition is the one you get to use - for everything. Pictures, music, apps, anything you install goes to that partition. So even though your total storage space has 16GB of storage, most of it is taken by Linux (the operating system), Android (an app running in Linux) and a lot of system stuff, the recovery partition, the bootloader partition, etc.

That's why you don't have as much free space as you think you should have.

In 2019, a 16GB phone just doesn't have enough storage.
