Hi all,

just got a thrive and rooted it following a guide on here (much appreciated DONOVAN).
I made a rookie mistake of deleting the wrong att app/s though,
I have searched high and low and found some links to download what I need but then
get to the link and the files are no longer there.
I am getting AAB initializing when I click on contacts and also my mobile data connection doesn't work.
I says enabling/disabling when I click widget but when I go to do anything it says no connection.
I am fairly new to android phones and have done a factory reset and then re-rooted etc but it did not restore the stuff I
need. Does anyone have the files needed? And can give me some instruction as to getting them where they need to be?
I would greatly appreciate any advice etc.

Regards,
Ben.

You could try flashing a new rom through ROM Manager. Make sure you choose optimus-one (old bb) if you do this.

You can use this after installing a recover through rom manager. Its the stock factory image flashable through clockwork mod.
[ROM] LG Thrive P506 Stock FOTA 2.2.2 v11h - xda-developers

Or you can use any of the custom roms posted here or other cm7 p500 based roms. you will always need an old baseband fix though, there are instructions on how to get cm7 (android 2.3 based) working for the thrive here http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-lg-phoenix-thrive/203433-how-perfect-working-cm7.html

If you want to try ICS 4.0.4 then I recommend Arjens Piccolo rom. http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-lg-phoenix-thrive/189546-rom-ics-4-0-4-piccolo.html

Rashed is working on JellyBean 4.1.1 over on xda if you want to try that out also. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811325

Thanks alot guys.

I tried one I found elsewhere but it was unsuccessful and now boots to cwm recovery on startup.
I managed to restore but still have the above issue,
still boots fine from there though.
Shall try one of these,
forgive my lack of knowledge but I guess the only way to learn may be to break this phone.

If you have clockwork mod recovery, then you shouldn't brick your phone unless the reccovery itself gets corrupted. I've had LG thrive for about 1 1/2 years and have flashed countless roms (and have tested my own custom roms, failing to boot many times) and have never bricked my phone. Even if you do brick it somehow there is a way to recover the image through ADB, but only worry about that if the time comes.

You really should read here and follow these instructions because its pretty much required for phoenix/thrives users to get working cm7. http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-lg-phoenix-thrive/203433-how-perfect-working-cm7.html

I tried various links but it didn't want a bar so I am in the process
of trying the jellybean one thats on here some where.
It's doing something, has cyanogen and a dude on screen.
I shall definitely read up some more though. What I really need is just a basic funcional ROM at this stage till
I further my knowledge.
Also, I believe I have a thrive but the version is 505, what I've read suggests that's phoenix and thrive is 506.
Is that correct? It was/is running froyo 2.2.1 also.

Yes P505 is Phoenix and P506 is Thrive. I would suggest staying away from Rom Manager tho. It has messed up a few of our devices. I recommend for our devices to use the tool in my signature for flashing recoveries. There are several located here and at xda. Good luck and happy flashing.

Sent from my LG-P506

If you already have clockwork mod recovery, and it sounds like you have, just follow the steps in my post on getting cm7 working. They are simple straitfoward step by step information on getting cm7 (android 2.3) on the thrive. It has full functionality (except for USB storage). I've flashed cwm 5.0.2.0 twice through rom manager and didn't have any problems. I'm not saying its impossible, just that if you follow the steps correctly you should be alright.

@ KM, followed that through and all went swimmingly.
YOU FREAKIN ROCK!!!!!!!

Also big thanks to every body that gave advise,
it was much appreciated and I apologise for being useless :-P

Another been question.
I can't restore apps I had. No sign of gplay on here, can I still dl apps from there?

UPDATE

Been running for a few days and I love it.
Have a few kinks that I may have work out (listed below)
but most are pretty negligible.

Always boots to cwm (boots up from there with ot issue though),
Had the screen start doing some funky stuff while playing music (just rebooted),
super user update and busybox issue (recovered and not updating super user),

That's about it at this stage I think.

Another question.

I found my screen issues to be related to cm7 CPU setting. Went back to 600 and instantly fixes, as soon as
I go up my screen acts up again. I tweaked it using no frills CPU and so far it causes no issues. Go back to cm7
CPU and it displays values I set with no frills but without issues yet. Is the cm7 CPU control a known issue at all?

^ scratch that.
It just took a bit longer to present itself.
Turned min down to 122 and Max will remain at the stock 600.

I've found overclocking is a bit more stable using performance govenor, but it drains battery faster. The most stable govenor that I can tell is smartassv2, and I've only seen that available on Arjen's Piccolo ROM. I can OC to 122/748 with no problems with that rom, but any other rom would cause screen tearing. I usually use 122/480 conservative to conserve battery and because I don't play games in cm7.

Sweet,

Thanks for the info.
I'll play round a bit more but its going ok at 122/600 on demand so I'm happy to stick with that.
